  • this tv is about the best value i've come across. ever. the display is beautiful the setup was a bit tricky..i just peered out from the crt world of tvs. five years ago i had a twenty inch crt by apex. three years ago we wanted a bigger one and settled on a used 26 inch dyno flat crt for $180. we wanted an lcd and now three years later we could finally afford one. the issue though is that i came out of the crtworld knowing nothing about hdmi cables. id only ever set up using rca and svideo cables. what ive found is that when you have a tv with two hdmi ports it will help if you get a little inventivei have uverse a blu ray player and my receiver [that doesnt have hdmi ports]i connected an hdmi cable from my tv to my blu rayfrom my tv to my uverse boxand ran an optical cable from my tv to my receiverit works flawlessly i have surround sound and the switch from hdmi1 to hdmi2 is stress free i just click source on the remote and scroll down one and hit the big middle button.i have the uverse remote to change the channels and have the receiver audio set through the same remote. so unless we are changing to a dvd or going back to television there is no need except for the one remote. we are pleased with this set up. the tv remote is huge and doesnt offer a lighted display so though i like the size of it i dislike using it. ergonomically though it is easy to function.just to note having 1080p is not all it's cracked up to bebecause nothing broadcasts in full 1080p. currently at&t broadcasts in 720p. that will be changing over the next couple of years but for now i have our uverse box set for 1080i. 1080i looks noticeably better than 720p. had i known this i would have sought out a 720p tv. i originally did. had the deal not been as good on this tv we would have settled on a 720 probably a 37 vizio. but as is we are very happy. samsung is rated number two and for good reason. even with a very modest 400001 contrast ratio even with the 60 speed this is a lot of television that was stripped down of just enough whistles to make it just barely affordable for us.the upconversion of regular dvds through my blu ray player is very crisp on this display. even home movies that i transcode and burn to play like a dvd through my player comes alive even though my camcorder is 480i and not hd. this tv is a remarkable buy.
excellent Excellent TV for the money. I suggest you have high definition cable/satelite or other wise the picture quality is a little grainy. We thought we had HDMI reciever and did not but when we got new one from directtv the quality was excellent. I highly recommend this product.
this is what a value TV should be and comparison with Sony 46W5150 In the last three months of this year 2009 I did hours worth of research deciding on which 2 LCD TV's to buy a 46 for myself that I planned to do all kinds of crazy things with including hooking up my computer via DVI>HDMI using a roofmounted antenna for the overtheair tuner using with a HTPC etc and a 40 for my mom and dad that would simply offer great picture quality. For myself I bought the Sony 120hz 46W5150 Bravia Engine 3 10000001 contrast and for mom and dad this TV ths Samsung 40b500.The result is that this TV Samsung is perfect for mom and dad and in truth probably would have satisfied me too. Both are exceptionally vibrant and clear. My Sony TV offers a few shades deeper almost perfectly pure black level but this Samsung is almost there with deep/rich blacks. If you are downgrading from a 120hz TV to the Samsung you will notice the lack but if you've only ever had a CRT or 60hz LCD I do not personally believe 120hz justifies a lot more money but this is personal preference. Speakers are comparable. My Sony offers 8+ inputs including 4 HDMI this Samsung only has 2 HDMI and 1 component/composite shared.I could go on an on making technical comparisons but I think the most helpful info I can share is that having lived with and loved my Sony WSeries for a few months a mid to top of the line unit this Samsung offers 8090% of the black level contrast and beautifully sharp image at about 50% of the price. The low number of inputs is not an issue if you are aware of it beforehand. I hooked my parents cable box up to the component their DVD player to the HDMI 1 and the Roku HD player to HDMI 2. If they get a bluray player it will replace the DVD player on HDMI 1.
Bought and returned I bought this tv on black friday 2010 and turned out to be dissatisfied. I guess im not too found of 60hz to begin with but im still not pleased with the picture quality either way. I expected that I couldnt go wrong with a samsung being that they are one of the top manufactures in the tv business. When playing movies and games I sometimes get a flicker which is really annoying when you pay for a nice tv. I did get a good deal $500 but the deal wasnt good enough for me and im not really too picky. I will give them credit for the cosmetics though. It looks really sharp in my living room.Pros Price looks sound.Cons 1 hdmi 60hzblurry Flickering picture off ps3 no audio in.Had the tv for two months.
The samsung lcd is a great tv. My son has had no problems with his samsung 40inch lcd tv. The shipping was fast and easy. it has no problem with video or when he uses it as a computer monitor.
Excellent Tv for the price Bought this TV after thanksgiving and has been great ever since works excellent with my computer very clear sound is great and picture quality. Only con is that it needs some playing around with to get settings to look good.
Great television for the price I bought this television before Christmas Eve for about [] from Sears with Bing Cashback. It was such a great deal. Out of the box the picture quality is not great because you have to adjust the settings. I recommend going to [] and looking up Samsung settings. I was able to use a setting for one of the Samsung televisions and the picture quality looked great. On the PS3 Modern Warfare 2 looks awesome. So does Dragons Age I might add. I think the people who are complaining about picture quality are not putting in the proper settings to show the true picture quality of the television.
Samsung is Fantastic I wanted a HDTV during black Friday so I got out the ads on Thursday and began looking. I looked over many of the televisions but I always seem to fall for Samsung or Vizio when it comes to LCD or LED HDTV's. This occasion was no exception. Now some of the Sony Bravia's are beautiful too but they tend to be a little expensive because of the name. Nonetheless I found myself liking the $600 deal that was available at Walmart with this model so I made the final decision this TV.I haven't had much first hand experience with Plasma televisions but of what I did experience I liked Panasonic and Pioneer the most. However plasmas are good for dark rooms but there really aren't that many people as far as I know who have very dark living tv rooms and no windows. So I tend to go with LCD. Here we go w/ specsFORMATThis model has the current 1.3b hdmi format and so do almost all hdtvs but there really isn't much of a difference between the a and b format my opinion.LIGHTINGThis TV is a CCFL display which is understandable for the price because LEDlit TV's tend to be more expensive.
awesome value This was a gift for my sister's house. It came promptly in excellent shape and setup was easy. A great deal for the price.
Nice budget LCD HDVT Picture is great in HD. SD isn't all that great but I have found this to be true on all LCDs. Some people have complained about it only having 2 HDMI ports but that is all I need 1 for DVD and 1 for cable. The only draw back on this is the sound. The sound is acceptable but it's not great. A sound bar or home theater can fix that but it would be nice if it wasn't necessary. Samsung like most manufactures has moved to rear/downward facing speakers and I that that is a mistake as they cause echoing and greatly reduced sound quality.

  • SRS TruVolume and SRS TruSurround HD audio for advanced virtual surround sound

  • Excellent TV at a great price I bought this TV back in January for my study room and it's been a great performer for the last 8 months. I use it a lot every day I spend 812 hours in my study room and the TV is on almost always. The picture is brilliant and the sound is magnificent. In fact the sound is so good I get complaints from my neighbors that the TV is too loud. I've used the HDMI function watching movies from my computer and it's as simple as possible. I paid a lot more than it's selling for now and I'm extremely happy with the TV. At $250 or so this is a steal. I'm considering buying a second one.
Vizio E320vl Good TV for the money. Had it for many months now and no problems popped up. I liked the front firing speakers.
    vizio 32 inch
Good while it lasts This TV seems to be a great when you first get it sets up easily great picture then done 3 weeks later. We are on our second Vizio and both ended with the same problem go to power on the TV and it freezes with the Vizio name on the screen. Can't power it off or on with the remote or on TV itself Must unplug. Called customer service followed directions to reboot..TV totally died. This problem happened twice.. each within only having the TVs for a few weeks.
GREAT TV The Vizio 32 lcd tv is a great product. The tv's picture quality is outstanding especially when watching shows on the HD channels. The only problem is the sound fluctuates like all other vizio products. Other than that it is a great purchase for the price.
great picture clarity and excellent sound I love this Vizio tv. The picture and sound are great. I liked it so much that I bought them for my two daughters also.
Refurbished Flat Screen Vizio Great TV for the money! I love the picture and the sound is good. Just as good as a new TV.
Great Great TV! I bought this and had it shipped to my APO here in Iraq. I also bought a second one for my Dad in Florida. They arrived fully boxed and in Brand New condition! I have been using it now for a few months and love it! Great picture great sound and very very well worth the price! I highly recommend this TV! You will not be dissatisfied! I love VIZIO and have had no problems with their TVs in the past. My Dad is super happy with his as this is his first LCD TV. He's 70 LOL.
I will never buy another vizio product I bought this tv in February of 2011 form a local store. It worked fine for about two months and then my HDMI ports quit working. It took me a couple of months to call and get them fixed but it got fixed under warranty in September of 2011 by getting the mother board replaced. Well here I am six months later out of the tv's one year warranty and the tv went off and won't turn back on. I called Vizio and explained the problem and she told me that the motherboard is bad. I told her I just had it replaced and she told me she had it in her records that it was replaced in September 2011. I asked if she warrantied the replacement parts and said it was only a three month warranty. She said all she can do is give me the number to a repair person but the cost is going to be more than the tv even costs. It worked from February of 2011 to April of 2012 and thats all. What a waste of money. I will never again in my life buy another vizio product. They have the worst costumer service also. I am very disappointed. 14 months for $300 bucks. That price would have been a decent deal if the tv would have lasted for 3 or 4 years but for 1 year that is the most expensive tv I ever purchased. Stay away from Vizio and if you don't take my word for it and go buy one then you can't say I didn't warn you.
Perfect! Ordered this as a refurb so I was a little worried but it's great. Not a scratch to be found.

  • Unbelieveably low power usage Great Picture Like D. Bortranger's earlier review I also hooked up a watt meter UPM model EM100 and received roughly the sameresults. Power saving off 98 watts but the picture highlights were overly bright to me.Standard power saving used around 80 watts picture was dimmed slightly bringing down the highlights to a proper levelby my eye. Advanced power saving OPC on standard settings min range 16 max range +8 functional setting was 50 wattsbut the picture was too dark so I increased the min range min range 6 max range +6 functional setting whichbrought the brightness up to an acceptable level for a dark room and the power usage up to only 67 watts! Now I just toggle between Standard and Advanced Power Saving depending on the room brightness.
Great Product We bought this TV about 9 Months ago from another site at a fantastic price. I could not be happier with it. People often think that Samsung is the ONLY way to go when purchasing flatscreens but that is so far from reality. The picture on this tv is fantastic hands down. We have a good friend that has an identically sized samsung with similar technology and it has an inferior picture. If you buy this sharp go online and search for the optimal settings CNET i think for this tv and go through them and tune it up makes a big difference. Oh and I don't hear a thing but the program im watching while this tv is on no hum buzz or anything. If you can hook up an external sound system the one on the tv is not adequate for most uses. If you give less of a rating for this however you shouldn't these tv's are not designed with sound in mind!!!The bluray picture is stunning rent or buy Planet Earth in bluray and your jaw will drop.
very pleased Picture is fantastic. Sound from the unit is not impressive but I hooked up a 35W sound bar & now it sounds great. The menu is laid out logically easy to use. The TV defaults to using a feature which changes the the backlight of the TV auto dims the TV based on the rooms ambient light. It kept switching levels so I just disabled this feature. If you're in a basement or another room which has a constant light level it may be a nice feature but I thought it was more annoying than useful. Anyways I was really just after a great picture and this Sharp delivered.
Great TV for the Price I love this television. Bought it about nine months ago and couldn't be happier. I too compared a lot of sets read all the reviews and came to the conclusion that this was a terrific deal. I love love love the picture quality. It's great for HD cable and superb for Blu Ray movies. I'm afraid if I hooked a game machine to it I'd become totally addicted. Can't comment on the sound quality. It's just fine for what I use it for and if I want higher sound quality one day I'll simply buy a sound system to go with it.Bought it through Amazon. No hassles delivered promptly and I had no trouble setting it up.
I love my sharp aquos LC46LE700UN I have this LED flat screen for a month now and i still love. Nothing wrong with this flat screen I don't hear any buzzing sound at all great contrast and not even a single dead pixel. If you can buy a home theater 5.1 system such as samsung under $300 from Sam's club it will make your flat screen so much a live as if you were in a movie theater.
NICE TELEVISION I purchased this television about a week ago and so far it has worked flawlessly. I was undecided on another LCD from Sammy or try an LED. Amazon made the decision for me when this Sharp model was suddenly lowered another 270 bucks in my shopping cart. The picture is very clear and consistent. There is no humming as reported by others. The speakers are fine but I do have the sound connected to a 5.1 system. It has an interesting energy saving switch on the remote which allows you to increase/decrease the brightness level on the LED's to conserve energy. I tend to like the standard setting the best. The Samsung does have some finer features such as a dust cloth an LED light on the t.v. to let you know you have power to the unit when plugged in and the ability for the T.V. to swivel on the base. Nonetheless this one is a keeper.
Thirty days and counting My family purchased this television to replace an old Mitsubishi CS35301 CRT so my impressions are relative to that model. We have owned this set for approximately one month. I have been using it to watch cable programming so I cannot comment about its offtheair reception DVDs via SVideo and to play video games on a Nintendo Wii console. One of the reasons I decided to go for the Sharp was its impressive energy efficiency as noted by several other reviewers and CNET. Another usability issue that others have mentioned but isn't usually highlighted is Sharp's excellent connectivity including legacy connectors such as SVideo which still comes in handy in my household as well as HDMI component and composite video. There's also a DSub for hooking up your computer. As far as picture goes the Sharp performs well. There are several settings that the user can adjust to his liking which makes the television all the more appealing to those looking for a set that they can configure to their exact specifications. Conveniently the television will remember different settings for different inputs so for example the settings I have for my DVD player and my game console are tailored precisely for each purpose. There is a relatively thick paper manual that offers the same helpful information in English French and Spanish. Speaking of which for multilingual families you can change the language of the menus to any of those three options. Something else I find handy is that you can adjust the manner in which closed captions are displayed. Rather than having a solid black background and white text chosen by default you can make the background solid translucent or transparent change its color and change the font's color among other settings.I do notice a buzz coming from the speakers whenever the volume is at a certain point typically set to between 1 and 15. Muting the television or setting the sound level to 0 eliminates the hum while it is drowned out by the sounds of the television program above 15. Luckily we have a stereo system that we've connected to the television working around this problem. As far as sound quality goes it is passable though not up to par even with our old Mitsubishi's builtin speakers. Still this speaker buzz is quieter than the CRT buzz from the Mitsubishi.
a long time coming Great picture and off angle viewing. I knew I wanted a TV I do not want to sit directly in front of to see the great picture. This TV exceeds the expectations. I would buy again and have recommended to others. A friend of mine purchased the 52 in version and is very happy also.
It is the worst!!!!! Lost colors no RED TAN YELLOW. It really sucks only 2 years old. If you but this but the exteneded warranty for model LC46LE700UN.
It's ALL about the picture! A very underrated TV. Incredible picture! Light weight due to LED backlighting. One of the few fullarray units still on the market! Most are now edgelit which in effect is light Christmas lights around a windowbright edges but dark center! Does not make sense and only being done to satisfy consumer demand for sexythin TV's.The Picture is near perfect. Solidly built unit however Sharp could have done better with the stand. Overall photo's of this unit do not do itjustice it looks gorgeous! Piano black finish will scratch so use a swiffer duster on it! The remote uninspiring works well. Lots of HDMI ports and onscreen menus are clear and easy to use. Lots of adjustments can be made with picture quality.Sound is from ten watt speakers. Obviously designed to hookup to home theater sound system. Easy PC HDMI hookup is impressive. The AquosNet ethernet works well but there is really no content to even bother with. At least you can can live customer support from it.

GREAT tv dead after 3 months!!! update 3/19/2011 First off i'm not going to berate Samsung quality as all my previous LCDs have been Samsung and they've worked wonderfully. I'm extremely disappointed that this tv only lasted about 3 months before i got the infamous tv turns on and off repeatedly issue. I spent months researching my next TV only to be out of luck during the Memorial day weekend the TV failed me on Friday what luck!. When the TV is working it is GORGEOUS. The fact that i can plug in my external HDD and play MKV files straight from the USB port is a real Godsend.
One year of use and enjoy it more than ever! We've owned this for just over one year and enjoy it more than ever. Picture quality is great has all the features wanted without any wasted money on those that are not used. We are constantly surprised by the number of people that spontaneously mention how great of a picture and sharp detail this producesuntil we happen to see other televisions egads! then it becomes obvious how outstanding this one really is.If there was one negative it is the soundit's a bit weak but to be fair this is placed in a large room.
BEWARE **** OF SAMSUNG TVS ****** BEWARE BEWARE OF SAMSUNG TVsPurchased a LCD TV from Samsung and within 6 months 3 days before Christmas the sound suddenly stopped working. Expecting company for the holidays this was not good that I was now without a TV. Called Samsung and after being on call for half hour they advised me they would have a technician come to my home the next day to repair. I took off work the next day and surprise surprise no technician. Called Samsung AGAIN another half hour before I got a manager on phone he apologized and said I was given the wrong information that I would have to SHIP my TV to their repair location and wait 2 to 4 weeks for repair. They had no sympathy for the fact I was now without a TV for the holidays and had a very nasty attitude on phone. The Manager in the ECR Dept Tiania Employee # 85171 out of SC office then said she would email me a shipping label and thats all she could do. Two hours later I DO NOT receive a shipping label from her I receive a request for service ticket!!!! Had to call back get another manager and request a shipping label. So basically I bought a new TV within 6 months sound was GONE lost a day of work and spent 2 hours total on phone with no resolution from Samsung except for me to find a UPS STORE and ship it back to them. Just what we all need 3 days before Christmas to deal with this when I paid over 500.00 for the TV DO NOT PURCHASE A SAMSUNG TV .
We love our Samsung B750 LCD TV! So my fiance and I bought this beautiful Samsung LN46B750 46 LCD TV a little over a year ago in December 2009 after doing a lot of research and looking at similar models at Best Buy. While we were at Best Buy we noticed that the Samsung LCD TVs beat the other TVs almost hands down in terms of picture quality. It's a pretty classy looking set too with a piano gloss finish and the touch of grey around the edges.
Very sharp image and no noticable blur I looked at a LOT of HD TVs before I bought one and long ago decided I wanted 120Hz because the 60Hz ones were so blurry during motion. I had decided I liked the Samsung ones featurewise but didn't at all like the touch of red bezel on the models I liked.I watched the prices and features of TVs for over a year.
Warehouse Review Only Defective I purchased this item 10 days ago and finally got to set it up last night after our new furniture was delivered.Set up was very easy and once I had the TV up and running after about 5 minutes it cuts off in the middle of a show then comes back on. It proceeds to do this repeatedly over and over until I have to shut the TV off myself. I tried a different outlet thinking for some reason my outlet might have been shorting but the same thing occurred. I waited an hour or so after unplugging thinking time would heal the issueand the same thing happened upon turning it on again. I clearly have received a defective TV from the Amazon Warehouse so I would highly recommend not ordering from the Warehouse or at least realize the risk you are taking. The only positive thing about all this is Amazon will fully refund me send a shipping party out to pick up the TV and take it back. I appreciate their service but definitely wanted to share my experience so others might know the risk dealing with ordering from the Warehouse.
Nice TV TERRIBLE service I purchased this TV in July of 2009 and it worked flawlessly until May 2010. During that time the TV was excellent. Great Picture quality. Also of note Amazon's delivery and service were exemplary as always. Unfortunately this is where the good things I have to say about this TV end.I have had a defect with my Television where it acts as if it is constantly receiving input from the buttons or remote. The light is blinking constantly and the TV changes input sources randomly rendering it unusable. Over the last month I have had it repaired at the expense of Samsung twice. Neither repair fixed the problem and now Samsung wants to schedule a 3rd repair. I told them that I am not interested in waiting around for another repair if it's like the first two it will be another two weeks because I have already had a broken TV for over a month. I told them that I would like an exchange for a new TV instead and they refuse to cooperate. I have now filed a complaint with the BBB and will have to see how this plays out but I cannot recommend a Samsung TV simply because of their service.
Perseverance pays off! After months of research I was excited and relieved to purchase the Samsung LN46B750 as a warehouse deal for approximately $750 on October 19 2010. It met all of my requirements 240hz refresh rate larger than 40 great [2ms] response time with game mode and at a remarkable price. Yes this was my big break. I counted the days down to receipt of the set.I received a call from the shipping company Pilot about a week after I placed my order. Let me say first that Pilot was outstanding throughout this ordeal and I would be more than happy to let them ship big ticket goods my way any time. They informed me that the box was waterlogged and falling apart and that there was no way I would accept delivery in such a condition. They even promptly sent me pictures documenting the damage. Sadly I elected to ship it back free of charge but I would not be deterred. I placed an order for the same TV again as a warehouse deal only this time for $710 shipped.About three weeks after my initial order I finally had this handsome Samsung TV inhouse. I'm not sure how this was a warehouse deal your mileage may vary but my TV looked and came packaged as if it were brand new. Even the remote was sealed and included the complimentary batteries. Needless to say I was pleased with the condition of the item for it being a warehouse buy. Installation was also pretty easy and straightforward though I could see someone installing it solo having to struggle. The TV looks like it is floating over its base thanks to its clear cylindrical stand a nice touch of style to be sure. The TV itself does its job and it does it well. Black levels are some of the deepest I've ever seen on a TV CNET wasn't joking in its review. The refresh rate is smooth as advertised and I do not get the soap opera sensation that I've had on other 240hz HDTVs. As a serious gamer who plays games where milliseconds matter I can attest that response times are perfectly acceptable but only with game mode activated. This is not a problem of course but it is somewhat of a hassle to go into the menu screen and activate it each time you want to play assuming it was previously turned off for movie watching. It does take some getting usedto to play on such a large screen when transitioning from a 26 display but I'll struggle through the adjustment period somehow. How does it look in bright light? Well not bad but not great.
2009 Purchase going strong Got this tv in 2009 after much research. Happy with the quality so far. Only slight confusion is the PictureinPicture feature. I thought this meant splitscreen viewing with two channels but it does not. Cannnot share the screen in the same mode i.e. tv video etc.

  • good features & price if only if worked After doing a local market survey of HDTV's that would fit my entertainment cabinet from the old days TV I gave to the Salvation Army I liked the set of features and inputs best for the Westinghouse 26 HDTV. I acommodated all of my inputs from DVD VCR & ATSC. I was particularly impressed by the tuner sensitivity as it pulled in 28 analog channels and 24 digital channels off my attic antenna I am about 30 miles out of NY City and also get Philly stations. Now for the bad news. Like other reviewers wish I had read these earlier I also had a persistent problem with total lockup from onair signals. None of the buttons on the remote or TV worked except that I discovered the old PC trick of holding down the power button for more than 5 seconds after which the TV would reboot just like an old PC.I called the Westinghouse customer service and they walked me through the factory reset process which forced me to reprogram all of my stored channels and configuration again.
Tried 2 but its a NO! Both TVs had stick pixels you could clearly see during dark passages small green pixel lights. Returned both to Target and ordered a Toshiba.
WOW YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS TV/DVD COMBO AT THIS PRICE. HDMI PC COMPONENT CABLE INPUTS EVERYTHING NEEDED TO GET STARTED FOR YOUR BEDROOM. PURCHASED AND SATISFIED.
Horrible DVD player and Horrible Customer Service I bought this TV at Target several months ago specifically for its size and the fact that it had a builtin DVD player. Very soon after the DVD player started having problems. It would skip despite cleaning the DVDs and the laser lens of the DVD player. The same DVDs would play just fine on my stand alone Panasonic DVD player. After several months of problems I called Westinghouse and was told that I should send the TV back and they would send me out a new TV within 5 business days. I was also told that I had to pay for the shipping which ended up being over $60. It has been over a month since they received the TV and I'm still waiting for a new TV. Multiple phone calls to their customer support have been useless. They take your number and say that a supervisor will call you back. The supervisor never calls back requiring you to call again and wait on hold forever for a supervisor to come on the line. The supervisor then states that the problem is being resolved but gives no indication of when I will get back my TV. I am writing a letter to president of the Westinghouse requesting a full refund.
Great HDTV This is overall a very nice TV. The display is very good with immaculate images from HD sources. Standard def TV looks good as well. Widescreen looks fantastic. Overscan mode allows you to zoom a 43 image and maintain aspect ratio which is a nice way to avoid pillarbox or letterbox black bars . The speakers are adequate but any serious HD setup would have dedicated speakers. The builtin DVD player is a nice touch as it's very convenient. I've never seen nor own any HD DVDs or HD players so I can't compare in that domain but the DVD player seems to hold its own. Another great feature is the spine in the back of the TV that contains all the input ports aligned vertically for easy access. The only downsides are occasional lockups or crashes of the TV where I need to reboot. This could be endemic or just apply to my unit. YMMV. Also the menus and channel tuning support are a little on the slow side where you need to be deliberate with the remote. Overall a great TV for a great price.
builtin DVD player is useless! I guess I'm just adding my voice to the choir here but the builtin DVD player on this thing is the most useless piece of crap I've ever dealt with. It struggles with the most basic tasks and as of today seems to have crapped out completely.
Not a great TV just okay CONS I have had this Westinghouse model for over a year now and use it with an HD antenna. The picture freezes a lot. The only way to unfreeze it is to either unplug the TV and plug it back in or hold down the power button on the TV for about 10 seconds to reboot the remote control loses all functionality when the picture freezes. Occasionally when I've unplugged it I've had to reprogram the clock and TV channels after I plug it back in. As for the builtin DVD player sometimes a DVD will play sometimes not. The DVDs that won't play I try on my other DVD player and they work fine so it is not a problem with the discs. My remote seems to have a very limited distance only about 10 feet.PROS It has a good picture and decent sound. It's fairly easy to set up initially program the clock and channels etc.. I like the programmable timer functions where I can set the TV to come on every morning at a certain time like an alarm clock then turn off when I leave for work. There is also a sleep timer. Another nice feature is that you can program your favorite TV channels into the favorites buttons on the remote so you don't have to flip through dozens of channels to find the stations you watch the most.
Burning time while deployed Ordered this tv while deployed overseas tv got to me in great shape and only took about 4 days from the time it was shipped. Good price for a good tv.
DVD player broke after 9 months Bought the TV in July 2007 and has been working pretty good until this week and the DVD player is dead. Not even 9 months. And it's not like I used it a lot and abused the TV. Very disappointed it's not like it's an easy item to carry off to the repair shop or return and I have to look for the warranty/manufacturer/user guide anyone like to find that stuff after nine months of placing it in a drawer somewhere at home? The TV itself works fine although a colleauge at work pointed out that the TV/VCR combos of yesteryear usually worked like this the VCR gives out with TV inevitably not too far behind. So I'm worried that TV will die out now. Will never buy a combo function TV again. Also the metal frame around the screen is not well made you can see the slight bumps in the frame.
If I could give this 0 stars I would Do not buy this TV. Simple as that.Had the same picture freezing problem as a previous reviewer however it is not due to the DVD player mine freezes when using an over the air digital antenna. Has frozen 4 times now twice just this morning and as soon as I can find the receipt and put this bad boy into the box it is going back to Best Buy and I'm buying Sony. And by frozen I mean you can't change the channel with the remote or with the buttons on the side of the TV you end up having to hold down the power button on the tv and powering it down much like a frozen PC computer. I know that it is not the antenna as I use the exact same antenna on a Panasonic LCD TV and have never had a problem. Also it is not a power surge as both the TV and antenna are plugged into a brand new surge protector. On the plus side this TV has a zillion inputs for a tv of its sizebut some things are just too good to be true.

  • HDTV Tuner Built In
  • 40-inch LCD Flat Panel HDTV
  • 3.6 x 25.5 x 39.1 inches (DxHxW)
  • HDMI: 2 Rear Inputs

  • Love TV but not happy with service
Comparison with Sharp 4206 I've now had both the 42 Sharp 4206DU and a Samsung 40 S4095D both 1080p for nearly a year and I definitely prefer the Sharp. I'm not a total technogeek nor someone who has to have the biggest most awesome home theater setup so this review is for your average couch potato who is nevertheless able to hear and see small differences in television video and audio quality.First of all let me say that the difference between high definition and standard definition television viewing is huge. With a high definition broadcast and television you can see details that are simply amazing. I find myself watching cake decorating challenges on food network's high def channel just to look at the light shining off tiny little drops of sugar sculpture or frosting. Watching a poker tournament is a whole different experience you can see every pore on a player's nose and every bead of sweat on his forehead. My mother's first comment on seeing a broadcast in high definition on the Sharp was that she would never want to be filmed in high definition. You can see every wrinkle. On the down side highdefinition set standard broadcasts look worse than they do on a CRT although not by much. You can see the difference by switching between a network news program's high and standard definition broadcasts. The difference is staggering. If however you're not going to get a highdefinition signal right away or play games on a current game module or watch a lot of DVDs on a high definition DVD player then there is no sense spending your money now on a high definition television. If you know you want a highdefinition set then the question is which one to buy. Of all the sets that I looked at and I checked out a LOT of them in the 3742 range the Sharp was the best buy. The Sony XBrite was the best looking set no question but not worth the substantially higher price one would have to pay for it. If money is really no object by all means go for the Sony. Otherwise the Sharp is the one I'd choose. The Sharp was the first high def t.v. I got and then when I wanted a second television I got the Samsung. Watching these sets with a DISH network satellite signal and a good but nonhigh def DVD player here's why I like the Sharp betterSIZEI initially had the Sharp in a small bedroom about 8 1/2 feet from where it would be viewed.
Broke just after 1 year warranty expired The TV screen that I paid a fortune for broke after 13 months of owning it. The warranty had just expired and Samsung told me tough luck. One minute were watching tv and the next the screen turns purple and for the past week hasn't changed just a nice purple screen with a few white lines through it. The techs that came to look at it said the entire panel needed to be replaced but couldn't really explain why. I've now searched the net and found numerous other instances of this issue. Basically the tv that I spent $2500 on is now worthless. I HIGHLY recommend that you choose another TV this is a common malfunction. Malfunctions are fine when you buy a cheap tv but not one for $2500!!! I'll NEVER buy anything Samsung again.
Great TV This is a great tv. I was worried about having a large electronic item shipped to me but the delivery personnel brought it in set it in place gave us time to test it and hauled away the box. The only issue I have with this tv is that it is not fully compatible with DirecTV's satellite service in 1080i. For the time being all of our programming is in 720. This information came directly from the installer when we asked why the reception was not in 1080i. Hopefully this issue will be addressed soon.
Picture great poor reliability low quality audio weird feature design I agree with all the previous comments this TV has a great picture. However I have some negative remarksWithin 5 hours of delivery it started smelling hot and one of the audio channels blew. Samsung service was fine. Within a day or two they had a guy at my house. Within a week or so he had the part and had fixed the problem. Now 6 months after purchase the screen has died. There is no picture at all and again the set smells hot. I've called in the problem. Hopefully their service will again be good. The two Sony TVs I've owned both lasted well over a decade with absolutely no problems. Two major problems in 6 months I think this Samsung set's reliability is very low. Make sure you buy from a reputable dealer with a real manufacturer's warranty.Regarding the audio the builtin speaker design is pretty poor. I suspect that Samsung expects all users to connect external speakers. The builtin ones do not provide clear reproduction spoken word is hard to understand particularly at low volumes. I suggest you listen to this set before buying if you plan to use the builtin speakers. The set has a nice set of features to enlarge letterboxed images to fill the screen. However it only works with the Svideo signal from my satellite receiver. It does not work with the HDMI output of my DVD player it stretches the image horizontally but not vertically.
nightmare with Samsung I bought the TV in March 2007 it worked well for a few months and then the screen went blank from Aug.Sept. Called the customer service and they assigned me a repair shop who took the TV back for over a month but didn't do anything except leaving scratches all over the places on both the back cover and the bezel the beautiful black shining frame I loved most. I called Samsung customer service and they assigned me another service shop which quickly identified the problem with the LCD panel. The service will order a new LCD panel but Samsung refused to do anything to fix the plastic over and the bezel. I called Samsung customer services many times but they just do not care. Now the TV has been bad for two months and I am still waiting for it to be repaired and they just do not want to do anything for the damaged bezel. My TV is only a few months old and is still covered by manufacturer's warranty.I thought this expensive TV as a reliable product and with good customer service but obviously I was wrong for both. I will never buy any Samsung product again.
Great Picture Great Service I have had this TV for over a year now and could not be happier. The HD picture is incredible and human tones look 100% accurate. Ive seen a lot of TVs since making this purchace and the quality of the LNS4095 is second to none.Recently I noticed a black line that ran horizantally accross the screen about a quarter of the way down. I called Samsung customer service and they told me that I was a week out of warranty but not to worry because they typically extend warranty repairs by two months so I was completely covered. This is huge because it turned out that the entire panel needed to be replaced $1500. Everything was repaired at no cost to me and Samsumg could not have been more accomidating.I will never by another brand.
one of the first solid and reasonably priced true 1080p HDTVs I bought this in May 2007 for 1700 delivered. At the time it was the best and most reasonably priced 1080p HDTVs.Pros price is better than any other brand offering the same features picture quality even in nonhd is very good and quite configurable fabulous HDTV picture really easy to set up and learn to use all the neat features on the remote beautiful looking unit speaker placement at bottom keeps the unit width down so can fit a larger LCD in smaller spaces.Cons the sound leveling option simply does not work which is very frustrating when every channel runs at a different volume. The speakers really are bad they vibrate with high bass settings so must keep the bass down. You had better have a surround sound system if you get this tv. 8rms isn't really fast enough for me in 480i noticeable artifacts. In HD the artifacts are barely noticeable and in game mode which speeds up the rms but is only available for dvds and games is much better and wish it was used full time for tv too. It doesn't have a seeing eye to automatically adjust picture brightness based on the room brightness so you have to adjust it yourself using the energy saver button on the remote which has 4 levels. I kinda wish I'd held out for a model that has a QAM tuner and cablecard slot so I'd have more options for HDTV because I really don't want a clunky set top box QAM tuner and yet another remote at allhow 1970s! I'd like to get a cable dvr stb which would negate the need for a QAM tuner in the tv however they are currently so huge one wouldn't even fit on the cabinet shelf with my other components so I'm waiting 'till more sleek models become available. Lastly the remote however easy has the buttons really poorly placed and the tactical design is horrible can't use this one without actually looking at itever! I much prefer the buttons in the circle to be the main channel and volume buttons with the prevchannel and fav channels buttons just above it and the number pad directly above them. The least they could have done was make the volume and channel buttons true rockers all the buttons feel the same.
LCD TV I couldn't be happier unless I could afford a larger screen I am a direct TV customer and the picture is great in HD. Now I really want to upgrade the rest of my stuff.
is this realy 1080p? I bought this TV back in 2007. I was very happy with the TV until I bought a Blueray player yesterday. When I set Sony blueray DVD player to 1080p resolution output test screen show up fine. However when the Blueray player start playing blueray DiscCSamsung 1080p TV keeps searching singal but not display one bit on the screen. I have another Sony 1080P TV in the house so I move the blueray player to Sony TV where crispy picture show up.

  • Junk Just another mexican made piece of junk. I had it 4 months and now it wont turn on. If I want it fixed I have to travel 200 miles to drop it off at a sony shipping site to be shipped to Texas so they can send me a refurbished one. So 400 miles round trip 8 hours out of my day come on sony really really. I will never buy any thing sony again.
Sony BRAVIA Bought this tv for Christmas 2011 it already has lines on the screen. Definitely not happy. Great picture and loved it up until recently.
awesome littlebigger tv Have had a 55 Sony Bravia in the front room for a while and LOVE it. So I got a 22 Sony Bravia for the back room like a matching set!. Unfortunately I lost the little guy in the divorce. Then that room was later converted into my drum studio now that there's no more Precious Moments or Peanuts crap all over the place. But I was still paying for the other receiver and I thought it would be nice to have another smaller TV in the back of the house maybe the kitchen? Then I couldn't find a 22 Bravia. Well wouldn't you know I have an island counter top in the kitchen with a cabinet above it and I swear to god that cabinet was placed just at the right height so this 32 could fit perfectly underneath it! I heard poor reviews about the speakers on this TV but I don't believe them at all. With the speakers set to the Dynamic mode my kitchen is roughly 13' x 14' and when I'm sitting on the bar stool eating and watching the TV or jamming one of the satellite music channels it sometimes sounds like there is small set of speakers behind my fridge!!! So stick it to your exwife get a bigger TV than she has.
Great TV works great on ps3 I remember wondering whether this TV could handle fast pace game play because there are a lot of HDTV's out there that aren't meant for games. This TV is definitely great for games I play MW3 and noticed no input lag unlike some of the TV's my friends have. The TV's picture is also great and it works as a good monitor. I was able to buy this TV at $298 which was practically a steal.
Great television! I have purchased 3 LCD televisions in the past 6 months two for my own home and one as a gift for a family member. Of the 3 this SONY Bravia delivers the best picture and performance for the price which says a lot considering that the other 2 are a Samsung 40 inch 1080p and an LG 42 inch 1080p both of which are higher resolution. This SONY puts out a fine picture with good blacks and enough contrast so that you can clearly see the action that takes place in dark scenes. I like its matte screen which doesn't reflect a lot of room light and is also good when we watch it in bed with the lights out. The set was easy to set up and it has a decent remote with clearly labeled buttons. One of its big pluses is that it interfaces smoothly with our cable remote which we have to use to control the set when its hooked up to our cable box which is always. We have another television a Samsung that refuses to work well with the cable remote and this is a big headache. This SONY on the other hand operates very well with the cable remote. One click turns both the cable box and the television set on or off plus adjusts audio and changes channels. So simple!I was hesitant about getting a 720p because I worried that the picture would not be crisp but I figured that since this one was intended as a secondary TV for the bedroom it wouldn't matter that much. It turns out that I needn't have worried as I can't tell the difference between this picture and the picture that comes out of our supposedly better Samsung. And the price for this unit is excellent.Overall a great set for a great price.
Excellent TV for the Money I bought it 4 months ago and have not had any problems. I use it to receive broadcast TV via antenna and also for DVD viewing. Picture quality is excellent sound is good. I just hope this model doesn't use the same components that Sony used in their 20082010 models. The Internet is full of consumer complaints about Sony TVs mysteriously failing soon after the warranty expired and the company not offering much if any compensation.
Average 32 TV This 32 TV is good not great. I thought that the TV was able to get bright enough for that pop in contrast that I like to see. I calibrate all my TVs based on using various calibration BluRays as well as utilizing AVS forum user suggestions. While this may not be as good as a professional calibration it usually works out well. I had this TV stacked up against the TCL 32 LG 32LK450 and Samsung 32 360 series. In the end the TCL 32 seemed to provide an acceptable picture but not as detailed as the others but it was able to provide better contrast than the LG & Sony I was surprised as well.
Great TV I love the TV. It came really quick and was easy to set up. Great picture!! It synced with my Sony Blue Ray automatically as expected. Sony is worth the extra money to me. I wish it has 1 more HDMI port.
Easier than a child's toy Delivered to my front door. No pickupno waiting hassle free. Easy setup. Instructions clear and simple. Was delivered exactly the date posted.
I like it I have had no issues with the Sony 32 inch. Great Picture good sound looks good what's not to like? With that said I have only had it for 2 months. The true test will be it's long term performance. Will I still love it in 2 or 3 years? I guess time will tell.
