  • Unbelieveably low power usage Great Picture Like D. Bortranger's earlier review I also hooked up a watt meter UPM model EM100 and received roughly the sameresults. Power saving off 98 watts but the picture highlights were overly bright to me.Standard power saving used around 80 watts picture was dimmed slightly bringing down the highlights to a proper levelby my eye. Advanced power saving OPC on standard settings min range 16 max range +8 functional setting was 50 wattsbut the picture was too dark so I increased the min range min range 6 max range +6 functional setting whichbrought the brightness up to an acceptable level for a dark room and the power usage up to only 67 watts! Now I just toggle between Standard and Advanced Power Saving depending on the room brightness.
Great Product We bought this TV about 9 Months ago from another site at a fantastic price. I could not be happier with it. People often think that Samsung is the ONLY way to go when purchasing flatscreens but that is so far from reality. The picture on this tv is fantastic hands down. We have a good friend that has an identically sized samsung with similar technology and it has an inferior picture. If you buy this sharp go online and search for the optimal settings CNET i think for this tv and go through them and tune it up makes a big difference. Oh and I don't hear a thing but the program im watching while this tv is on no hum buzz or anything. If you can hook up an external sound system the one on the tv is not adequate for most uses. If you give less of a rating for this however you shouldn't these tv's are not designed with sound in mind!!!The bluray picture is stunning rent or buy Planet Earth in bluray and your jaw will drop.
very pleased Picture is fantastic. Sound from the unit is not impressive but I hooked up a 35W sound bar & now it sounds great. The menu is laid out logically easy to use. The TV defaults to using a feature which changes the the backlight of the TV auto dims the TV based on the rooms ambient light. It kept switching levels so I just disabled this feature. If you're in a basement or another room which has a constant light level it may be a nice feature but I thought it was more annoying than useful. Anyways I was really just after a great picture and this Sharp delivered.
Great TV for the Price I love this television. Bought it about nine months ago and couldn't be happier. I too compared a lot of sets read all the reviews and came to the conclusion that this was a terrific deal. I love love love the picture quality. It's great for HD cable and superb for Blu Ray movies. I'm afraid if I hooked a game machine to it I'd become totally addicted. Can't comment on the sound quality. It's just fine for what I use it for and if I want higher sound quality one day I'll simply buy a sound system to go with it.Bought it through Amazon. No hassles delivered promptly and I had no trouble setting it up.
I love my sharp aquos LC46LE700UN I have this LED flat screen for a month now and i still love. Nothing wrong with this flat screen I don't hear any buzzing sound at all great contrast and not even a single dead pixel. If you can buy a home theater 5.1 system such as samsung under $300 from Sam's club it will make your flat screen so much a live as if you were in a movie theater.
NICE TELEVISION I purchased this television about a week ago and so far it has worked flawlessly. I was undecided on another LCD from Sammy or try an LED. Amazon made the decision for me when this Sharp model was suddenly lowered another 270 bucks in my shopping cart. The picture is very clear and consistent. There is no humming as reported by others. The speakers are fine but I do have the sound connected to a 5.1 system. It has an interesting energy saving switch on the remote which allows you to increase/decrease the brightness level on the LED's to conserve energy. I tend to like the standard setting the best. The Samsung does have some finer features such as a dust cloth an LED light on the t.v. to let you know you have power to the unit when plugged in and the ability for the T.V. to swivel on the base. Nonetheless this one is a keeper.
Thirty days and counting My family purchased this television to replace an old Mitsubishi CS35301 CRT so my impressions are relative to that model. We have owned this set for approximately one month. I have been using it to watch cable programming so I cannot comment about its offtheair reception DVDs via SVideo and to play video games on a Nintendo Wii console. One of the reasons I decided to go for the Sharp was its impressive energy efficiency as noted by several other reviewers and CNET. Another usability issue that others have mentioned but isn't usually highlighted is Sharp's excellent connectivity including legacy connectors such as SVideo which still comes in handy in my household as well as HDMI component and composite video. There's also a DSub for hooking up your computer. As far as picture goes the Sharp performs well. There are several settings that the user can adjust to his liking which makes the television all the more appealing to those looking for a set that they can configure to their exact specifications. Conveniently the television will remember different settings for different inputs so for example the settings I have for my DVD player and my game console are tailored precisely for each purpose. There is a relatively thick paper manual that offers the same helpful information in English French and Spanish. Speaking of which for multilingual families you can change the language of the menus to any of those three options. Something else I find handy is that you can adjust the manner in which closed captions are displayed. Rather than having a solid black background and white text chosen by default you can make the background solid translucent or transparent change its color and change the font's color among other settings.I do notice a buzz coming from the speakers whenever the volume is at a certain point typically set to between 1 and 15. Muting the television or setting the sound level to 0 eliminates the hum while it is drowned out by the sounds of the television program above 15. Luckily we have a stereo system that we've connected to the television working around this problem. As far as sound quality goes it is passable though not up to par even with our old Mitsubishi's builtin speakers. Still this speaker buzz is quieter than the CRT buzz from the Mitsubishi.
a long time coming Great picture and off angle viewing. I knew I wanted a TV I do not want to sit directly in front of to see the great picture. This TV exceeds the expectations. I would buy again and have recommended to others. A friend of mine purchased the 52 in version and is very happy also.
It is the worst!!!!! Lost colors no RED TAN YELLOW. It really sucks only 2 years old. If you but this but the exteneded warranty for model LC46LE700UN.
It's ALL about the picture! A very underrated TV. Incredible picture! Light weight due to LED backlighting. One of the few fullarray units still on the market! Most are now edgelit which in effect is light Christmas lights around a windowbright edges but dark center! Does not make sense and only being done to satisfy consumer demand for sexythin TV's.The Picture is near perfect. Solidly built unit however Sharp could have done better with the stand. Overall photo's of this unit do not do itjustice it looks gorgeous! Piano black finish will scratch so use a swiffer duster on it! The remote uninspiring works well. Lots of HDMI ports and onscreen menus are clear and easy to use. Lots of adjustments can be made with picture quality.Sound is from ten watt speakers. Obviously designed to hookup to home theater sound system. Easy PC HDMI hookup is impressive. The AquosNet ethernet works well but there is really no content to even bother with. At least you can can live customer support from it.
