  • Broke within the first 6 months horrible customer service. SAMSUNG HAS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!I have had a Samsung 55 LED 3D TV UN55D8000 for 6 months and it's already failing. It started with a black horizontal line and now has a pink vertical line to go with it. The TV is still under warranty I've called customer service multiple times my first service request submitted they said was mistakenly cancelled by Customer service and now it has been multiple weeks and still no fix to an unwatchable TV. How is Samsung still in business if it treats its customer's this way I should have read the reviews from the Better Business Bureau I would have never purchased a Samsung product.
Amazing Smart TV It is really an amazing smart TV and did not expect that this TV has many features. The most thing make me love this TV is the display especially with HD channels or movies coz the TV gives you feeling that you almost there with them. I am trying to active my TV with Amazon prim stream but could not find the application or the widget by Yahoo. Amazon said that they still working on that issue.
Best HDTV on the Market I purchased this HDTV back in December so I've had several months of use upon which to base this review. I will say flat out that the video quality of this HDTV is breathtaking. It is a joy to sit down in front of this TV each evening to watch programs ranging from the evening news to outdoor nature type programs found on the Discovery channel and others. It may sound trite but in the case of the scenic outdoor shows it is literally almost like being there. It is without a doubt the finest TV investment I have ever made and I recommend it to others without reservation.
Fun while it lasted This was my first Samsung television and it was the best tv I ever owned. I had it for about five days so I will try to do my best on this review despite not getting the chance to thoroughly examine it. I especially liked how light the tv was. I recently had a couple surgeries and I was still able to lift the tv without hurting myself. The design was sleek and the picture was great even during dark scenes. With the thin bezel the images seemed to be even better. The sound was loud enough for me and my family.
Great TV I bought this TV in July 2011 Brandsmart. Had to take the first one back as there was a problem with it displaying content at 1080p. After replacing it the TV has worked great. I have had no problems with it. Amazing picture in 3D & 2D. I love the design of the TV since there is really not much to it outside of the screen.Of course like all TVs the speakers are not great. I'm sure most people that are buying TVs like this have or are planning to have an A/V receiver and at least a couple decent speakers. This is expected really and is not why I am taking 1 star off.My only dislike with this TV is Smart Hub's inability to output more than 2channel stereo audio to the receiver. I stream a lot of videos from my PC using Samsung PC Share Manager. I have to use my Bluray Player Samsung BDC6900 to get 5.1 surround sound when streaming from my PC. If you don't plan on doing this than this obviously won't affect you. With the newer model 60E8000 out now for only a couple hundred more I would probably recommend getting that instead unless you can find a good deal on this one. If I didn't have to replace a broken TV last year I probably would have held out for this year's model.
Beatiful TV great screen not that smart. This has been well reviewed by others and it's last years model so won't add to much. The screen and image are wonderful after you get it adjusted. Do a google search for soap opera effect and learn how to make your movies look like movies again just with better picture and color. Once adjusted movies looks stunning. My only complaint is that the Smart TV isn't that smart. The Anynet+ feature get's in the way more than it helps.
DO NOT BUY THIS TV Major problem with this TV that Samsung are trying to keep a secret. The internet applcations such as Netflix and Pandora DO NOT WORK WITH A HOME CINEMA. There is no way to get the sound from the TV into a home cinema system. This has now been acknowledged by Samsung support too late as I have bought the TV. I am told the reason is that Samsung will not agree the license with Toshiba. So the only way to get Netflix etc on home cinema is to buy an extra internet equipped DVD player. Come on Samsung tell people if you have a serious flaw otherwise the user community will get the word out and you loose customers.
Great tv This is a great TV and I wouldn't have bought anything else. This is last year's model 2011 and the only difference is that the new one has voice and movement recognition I believe. I personally hate having to say something or wave my hands around which is why I got this one. 3D is cool with glasses that connect to the TV and the remote is double sided with a keyboard which won't work for all apps but is still cool. Best TV out there.
Excellent TV Purchased this LED TV in November 2011 and once installed I have nothing but prase for this TV. It has a beautiful crisp picture and has not given us any grief in the 7 Months we've used it.
Excellent letit TV !!!! I not have words to describe this TV. I invite you to enjoy this experience of 3D and High Definition Led IT Samsung TV.

  • Perfect size and Great Picture Recently bought this for my son's Birthday. It was easy to set up and the Qaulity of the picture was great. Perfect size for his apartment.
Remote Problem for Directv Subscribers I would have given t his a 5 star rating but as a Directv subscriber I am forced to use 2 different remotes at the same time. I must use the Philips remote a cheap little black plastic device impossible to use without light & reading glasses to turn on & off & for volume control. Directv claims it is Philips fault for not supplying remote control codes for switching these functions to their single remote control while Philips claims they have supplied Directv with the infared signals their engineers need to generate codes. A second call to Directv got me to a tech who tried to be helpful but none of the codes he had worked. It is extremely annoying to have to use 2 different remotes especially since the Philips remote is terribly susceptible to kitty paws which continually muck with the settings. At this point is is unclear whether the fault lies with Philips or Directv but the result is that I find myself constantly reaching for a different remote especially when a loud commercial intrudes & my settings are continually getting jammed by wandering cats who are just trying to get comfy beside me. This is not a problem unique to Philips as my primary tv also requires 2 remotes & although a different brand Directv has yet to be able to give me a code that works to convert me to a onehanded remote user.
Really like this Television After reading several reviews we bought this model for an elderly couple we love for a gift. They didn't want a large T.V. in their living room and this one was perfect. They really enjoy it. We were pleasantly surprised by the ease of setup and the easy to use interface. The colors are bright and the screen is crisp even though they are watching SD most of the time they are able to get many HD channels. they have basic cable. We liked it so much we just bought one for a guest bedroom. Got ours at Sams with a 90 day return. Got some great prices. under $300 delivered.Hard to believe that we paid almost $700 for a 32 inch 720p Samsung 3 years ago and that was a good price at the time it was even more at BB. This Philips is a great value so why pay the extra money? Wow have the prices gone down so shop around.
Great for watching Television but maybe not so much for other things When I started looking for a flatscreen TV to replace my old CTR there were a few things that I had in mind. Firstly I wanted to be able to use the television as a secodary/primary monitor for my laptop. Secondly I wanted to be able to play xbox games in wonderful HD. Watching television was actually more of a side note in my case. Unfortunately both of my goals were problematic. In regards to using the television as a second monitor there is no VGA input. The options are either svideo or HDMI. I wasn't aware that many computers have HDMI outputs like the description seems to indicate and the svideo option has a much too low resolution to be used practically. As for playing xbox games the television itself has a noticeable display lag. Many televisions come with an option that can eliminate this by turning the tv to game mode or reducing the extra effects which cause the lag. Unfortunately this tv has neither of those options. In the end the television basically was not the right one for what I was trying to do and if there are other's trying to do the same thing then you should take notice. I can't really comment on how well it works for actually watching television but after flipping through a few channels and whatnot it seems to be excellent in that respect. I'm going to try and return the tv and see what happens and try to do a little more research next time I go TV shopping.*updateI was able to return the tv and Amazon gave me my full money's worth back well minus 6 bucks for having UPS come and pick it up for me.
Absolutely Love this TV!!!! I finally upgraded my Panasonic combo TV/VCR for this LCD HDTV. I read many reviews before I finally decided on this television. I also went to a local store to look at the screens and compare their picture quality. The picture was crisp and of high quality compared to the others and the price was much better as well. I didn't get the cheapest in price but the highest level of picture quality with a price that was more in the median level. Totally worth every penny. The sound is amazing as well. I have this tv set up in my bedroom and I think it's the perfect size. If you plan to hook this up to your bluray DVD player or HD ready cable box then you will need to have the HD cable which is an added cost. I love that you can personalize the sound and picture to what you like. It also has game movie and other settings so that you get the perfect picture for what you are watching. I can't say enough about this tv. I have had Panasonic Samsung and a Plasma Sylvania and this is my favorite! Great quality. And many might worry that it's only a 720 instead of a 1080 but for this size it doesn't really matter. It matters when you have a larger tv. Very happy with my purchase! It was the perfect birthday gift from my husband.
stay away from this tv I'll try to make a long story short. I bought this tv in March of 2011. It did not have the picture quality I hoped for but I could live with it. In January of 2012 it got so I would have to turn it on about 15 time before it would stay on. I called customer support at Phillips and had to email them a copy of the receipt because they said it was not in warranty. After a week they decided it was warranty and sent me another tv wich took over 2weeks. Customer service was very nice and easy to deal with. However they sent me a refurbished tv that was all scratched up and had a loud buzz to it. So they told me they were going to send out another tv a new one this time. It is now March 24 and still no tv. I keep calling them and all they will tell me is that my case has been sent to someone at there corp. and I will have to wait until they contact me Ill update if and when this gets resolved. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this tv and Phillips.
Great TV! I bought this for the guest room but we moved our Sony out of the way in our bedroom to check out the Phillips. Other than being smaller it put the Sony to shame. The setup was so simple I thought is that all there is? The picture is clearer brighter and deeper almost than our brand new 46 Samsung in the family room The digital tuner meant no need for the cable box. I will not be hooking up any thing else to it as the sound is adequate for the room and I don't want visitors to move in ha ha. Overall it's a great tv for the expense.
Good value but not a great TV This TV is good for the money but it struggles with dark contrast and fast action sportsas I'm sure all LCDs in this price range would. No regrets I knew I wasn't paying for top quality and this TV serves it's purpose as a second TV.Set up is easy and on screen controls are equally user friendly.
Great buy/ Great tv!! I was blasted away by the price the speed in which it was delivered 2 days!and the functions of this set! I am thoroughly pleased with my new lcd/hdtv. I highly recommend this set and the vendor I purchased it from.
office tv set up was a breeze hooked up the cable for the satellite dish and we were good to go ran the auto channel add and it added about 4 regular channels that come in clear this tv i great for a offic or a bedroom great picture and has very good sound all parts needed for assembly were in the box and was easy to put the base together would recommend this tvi have the 48 one made by the same manufacter and there both great tvs shipping was great and was very quick and no damage to anything not even the outside of the box.

  • Mass Market Led TV Great for the Price I have a Panasonic LCD TV from 2 years ago that I bought for 549.00 on amazon and the picture and sound are much better. That said I just bought this used isymphony from amazon warehouse for 200 and it still had the plastic on it. If you don't care about LED light bleeding through and screwing up the black parts of the screen this TV is excellent for the price. The sound is as godawful as all the reviews say and its the easiest thing to fix get 20 dollar PC speakers and plug it in with the headphone out jack fixed.
tv purchase Tv works great delivered exactly on time and it has a beautiful picture couldn't even find the cosmetic defect that was said in the ad.
cheap price for what I paid average quality. Good but not that bad After reading numerous reviews mostly negative about this TV I decided it was worth buying through Amazon Warehouse deals for under $300. most complaints were about its sound and indeed the speakers on this TV really do suck. I don't know what engineers decided to fit this huge 42 inch tv with tweeters instead of regular speakers but they did. However I prepared by buying a new set of speakers to outfit this tv with and I'm glad I did.
Piece of Garbage I got this TV through the Thanksgiving deals. As of April 17 2012 my TV is DEAD. Sure it turns on but no picture. What a waste.
Great Picture. Sound is lower quality The picture on this bad boy is pretty sweet. However the speakers sound very low quality. I guess that is why an LED screen of this size and this resolution can be sold so cheap. You have to cut corners some where. I just bought a sound bar from Amazon for 60$ and now its perfect. Great picture and great sound.
Awesome!! Bought last year for a really cheap price & it is still going like the first day. No problems at all.
Don't make the same mistake I made. I bought this tv in a lightning deal as did several others who have reviewed this product and I basically feel like I was struck by lightning instead of getting a great deal. But it was my fault for not researching this company before hitting the order button. The other mistake I made was to throw away the box. Call it blind faith or just stupidity.
Terrible Sound Coaxial input didn't work Got this as a lightning deal for a Christmas gift for the kid's playroom. Didn't expect too much since it was just going to play cartoons and the kids are exactly picky about contrast ratios nor are the audiophiles. Well first problem was that we could not get the coaxial input to work so we couldn't watch anything from our cable. We hooked it up via HDMI to the DVD player just so the kids could watch one show since they were so excited we finally got to set it up. The picture actually was pretty nice but the sound was horrible. I really cannot stress how bad the sound was. Needless to say we had to return it due to the coaxial problem but instead of just exchanging for a working one we decided to shell out more $$ for the LG. I would avoid this TV especially now that it isn't even a great deal. Just happy that Amazon was so great about taking the return.
Real Nice for the Price Defo good bang for your buck! I knew it was at the lower price point as far as LED's go so I didn't expect miracles but it defiantly surpassed my preinstalled worries of the picture quality. I think I will be hooking some speakers up to it though as the TV speakers for me personally don't fill my room well enough as it is quite a large open plan room area.
Complete iSymphony Review So the isymphony isn't a TV.lolIt turns out it's actually a *native* 720p or 720i TV. The manufacturer which isn't iSymphony has the TV giving edid protocol for communicating over HDMI/VGA what display settings are possible gives modes stating it can do 720 native and an ok to pass in 1080 which it reports back that the TV is going to oversample so the input signal is given an ok to support all manner of resolutions. That said the actual panel of pixels if counted may even actually count up to 1080 but there is no hardware to use em all on pixel by pixel 1080 input if it does.

  • My first HDTV and so far the experience has been great. I have had this HDTV hooked up to my Comcast service for 3 weeks and I am really happy with this purchase. No bells and whistles no 3D no SmartTV just a great HDTV with excellent picture quality.
Good hdtv for the price After my old Admiral tv died I spent a month looking at hdtvs reading reviews etc. I finally selected the Samsung LN40D630 with 120Hz and have not been disappointed. It was extremely easy to set up and its performance to date has been excellent.
Love this set! This Samsung LCD TV probably would not appeal to the extreme technocats but if you're looking for a great TV at a great price that's easy to set up this is your best choice. Lots of input choices well thought out layout. Samsung is clearly the new Sony in terms of quality and reliability.
Very Happy with Samsung LN46D630 Fantastic picture. Easy to hook up and use. Prior to purchasing this model we considered buying a 3D TV but there are too few programs available in 3D to justify it right now. This TV is a great value. We are very pleased.
Works ALMOST as advertised. Has the great image quality of Samsung. Came well packed and properly documented. This was bought for hooking up to a computer in an instructional facility. The manual specifies a number of configurations to get computer image and audio to display. One configuration lets you get high definition video and audio from the computer.THAT CONFIGURATION DOES NOT WORK. Tech support came to the site and confirmed there was no problem with the TV. Seems that the documentation of capabilities was NOT CORRECT! Added $150 to the install cost as I had to purchase a specific video card to get the functionality I needed.
Simply amazing I am more than happy with this purchase. It really is one of the best TVs I have ever seen picture wise. The sound can be a little tinny but it is still better than many flatscreens I have tried. The one gripe I can some up with is that there is no RCA sound output jack. It is a 1/4 headphone jack and seems to be a Line Out jack unaffected by TV volume and it is pretty quiet with a pair of head phones attached. If you have a sounds system that accepts a digital connection you should be golden.
Best Bang for Your Buck! I was on the market for my first TV. Costco has great product warranties so I went in and bought a E472VL 47 Vizio LCD. On paper it appeared to be a great value and a USA made product. Both were wrong assumptions. Short story long I returned the Vizio it was defective and customer support is terrible did some research and found this gem. The television has every feature you need.
Best TV Ever! Seriously. I do not subscribe to an HD service primarily because the box is so tacky and unreliableBUT here is the deal at least in New Orleans the 5 local channels PBS NBC CBS ABC FOX and a few others all have secondary HD quality channels available on BASIC CABLE! And this television with its high dpi provides these virtually free programs with stellar high definition visuals. It's amazing. OH! And don't worry about the whitetrash amber line at the bottom seriously? C'mon Samsung it's 2012 NASCAR dads are as lame as Facebook that line is hardly visible.
best picture quality and sound for the price For the price this tv has amazing picture quality and great sound/output. When you have gadgets like roku and ps3 no need to buy fancy tv with apps which will eventually reduce the picture quality people who prefer good picture and sound this is the right choice.
Great picture great value Fantastic realistic picture. Very customizable through the various menu options. After comparing the gambit of HD TVs in this size and price range it was apparent this television was the clear winner.

  • Fantastic Picture After reading previous reviews I have to say I Did Not buy this set for it's wireless capabilities. I bought it as both a TV and a computer monitor. My computer having a 4gb video card and a fantastic HD sound card. This television rocks having it running through my computer via the digital optical connection. I also have it hardwired using Ethernet connection. All of the apps work perfectly although I utilize my Netflix and my Amazon Prime movies running through my computer for pure digital sound.Although this is Amazon I bought my tv through Sams club because it was only $545. I had to write a review simply because so many people were bad mouthing this set and it is a beautiful HD television with a beautiful full 1080P picture. The remote covers everything necessary and getting the updates through Philips online were a snap. After shopping for a 40 HD set with 1080P and 120Hz for over two months I feel lucky to accidentally fall into this great deal.
This TV ROCKS! I purchased this tv at Costco for the amazing price of $599.99. It was bought as a replacement for my Hitachi Plasma that was stolen in a house burglary. I was a bit skeptical at first but Costco has such an amazing return policy 90 days I went for it . My kids and I cannot believe how crisp and clear the picture is. We hooked up the laptop last night and watched Netflix and we were very impressed with the picture quality. Although it may not have all the bells and whistles that Sony or others may possess this tv gives you more bang for the buck! I also own an Aquos 37 lcd and the pictures don't even begin to compare and I paid over twice the amount I paid for the Phillips.
3 stars for TV zero for wifi 3 stars if you are looking for an okay TV at a low price but zero stars if looking for a WIFI capable TV as this one claims to be. I bought it at Walmart a month ago for $600. they no longer carry it and I think I know why but if you can find one at that price and just want a TV I say go for it.However if you want to use any WIFI Internet features that are plastered all over the box I would suggest you forget it. I just brought mine back to Walmart for a refund after going back and forth with Philips customer service since day one. It turns out that this model needs a software update and a media connect kit with a WIFI dongle to connect to the Internet. I noticed that all the positive Internet comments on this model where hard wired and not WIFI and that is something I just did not want to do. Philips will send the dongle out to you free of charge but it is always on back order. I finally got mine this week and after many calls and three hours on the phone with Philips useless customer service I gave up. I'm not new to installing TV's and I did everything that they said to do. Including having to use my zip drive to upgrade the software something that all the other TV's I have owned did on their own. Then closely following the directions with the dongle and still ending up with no WIFI connection.
Hmm Works for me Received as a Christmas Present. Sams Club has these as one time buys at $578. Seems like a killer deal considering the price listed here and even at Best Buy was $1000.TV was easy for me to setup. It's thin it's lightweight 40lbs and looks fairly attractive for a TV no weird angle pieces of plastic hanging off it. Menu's do look very cheesy but are easy to navigate. I have not yet done a full customization of settings on the TV but the OE configurations seems fairly well for color. None of the people it's displayed so far look like pink lobstersSound was on the quiet side as seems normal with a lot of TVs so I turned the true volume or whatever on and sound is a lot louder now without having to turn it up to the moon.Date of manufacture on mine was June 2011. I'll have to check for any firmware updates.Mine came with the wireless usb dongle and I had no issues connecting it to my wireless network.
Awesome HDTV technology at any price ! I've had this TV for 3 weeks and it is an awesome HDTV at any price. The firmware download from Philips' website is a Very Necessary thing to do but it's a breeze! Just download the upgrade file onto a flash drive and stick the flashdrive into the TV's USB port .
Terrible. now have 2nd replacement and still no Wifi My Husband bought this tv for me as a surprise after major surgery as I would be bedridden for months. During lucid moments I have tried in vain to get the net tv to work. I finally hooked up my Netgear powerline adapters and could then get on Netflix intermittently. After two weeks I could no longer get anywhere with the NetTv. Then I ran a wire from the adapter to the router and still nothing. Support said it was because I did not have a dongle. I tried to tell her it was the network card. She said there is no network card in the tv. I just need the dongle. uhmmm. okaaayy . lol. but whatever.. Dongle came. and tada! NO NetTv! Got a more knowledgeable tech support helper who after over two hours of testing. And me manually putting in my IP DNS etc. came to the conclusion that the tv was no good. So today I got the replacement. and still nothing. Wired wireless. Nothing.. If you want a tv with a nice picture this is fine. but don't pay the extra money for a tv that promises NetTv and then doesn't deliver. They said public relations would be calling me in a couple of days. All those who gave this tv a 5 star rating. I can see that you didn't want it for the wifi Which is what the tv is touted as having. I did.. so I could put my Roku out in the living room so the rest of the family could access movies and thought I would have the pleasure of being able to watch movies while I convalesced right from my New TV! I want a different tv but it appears I am stuck with this one.
Amazing TV with plenty of inputs. I got this TV for Christmas from my brother and I am still in love with it. Not only does this TV offer a splendid picture but it also has room to grow. Our HTPC blurays and Fios HD channels look sharp and crisp on it and video games do not lag whatsoever. It still impresses me everytime I throw something on. If you're on the fence whether to purchase this TV or not just do it.
Nice Tv Great picture and WIFI works !! My Girl friend bought this tv the other day as a replacement for her samsung 40 lcd after a burglery we shopped and looked at several models and it came down to this another samsung for more $ a LG for more.she considered some lesser brands bit for the money this was it .
Great television! We bought this television in November of 2010.It was super simple to set up for regular television viewing DVD/VCR watching watching movies/television through a laptop and playing the Wii.Setting it up for Netflix was a little trickier as I couldn't figure out how to get it on out network.
4 stars for the TV would have been 5 stars if the WiFi worked I bought this TV 40pfl7705dv from Sam's Club for $578 great deal compared to what it is selling for on Amazon because it fit my budget and had Flat Screen TV features I was looking for. We switched from an old traditional TV to this flat screen so we were blown away by the picture quality especially HD. So far we love the TV no complaints other than the WiFi. Our TV is in the living room and the wireless router is in the office around 40 feet apart and 2 walls in between the WiFi did not work called Philips and lady said that for WiFi to work the router has to be in the same room not more than 25 feet away and no walls inbetween I think this is also mentioned in the owners manual. Which I think is ridiculous since my laptop gets excellent signal same spot as TV. Anyway she recommended I buy a power line adapter. So I bought the NETGEAR XETB1001 85Mbps Powerline Network Adapter Kit from buy.com for $70 after that the internet connection worked great and I am able to watch Netflix HD movies without any interruption. So even though the WiFi did not work we are happy with the TV I think the price was slashed probably because they received a lot of complaints of WiFi not working. Also we did not see any lag DirecTV HD DVDs Netflix HD between the picture and sound as had been mentioned in some previous post.Fyi I also bought the Omni Mount OB120FM from Sam's Club but when I tried to attach the wall mount adapters in the Configuration 3 X the lower adapters were too long so had to saw off part of the lower adapters and then it worked perfectly.
