  • Great buy for the money! So far so good! Arrived in 2 days in perfect condition! Thanks Amazon Prime!Easy setup.I have certainly seen better TVs but for $300 this one is an awesome buy! I purchased a 3 year Squaretrade warranty for $30. I hope I don't need it but the cost including the 3 year warranty is less than any other TV in this size. It seems like this is a product that many people have great success with while others have a dead TV in 100 days. I hope that it lasts but if not squaretrade 3 year warranty is like gold! In home service for a TV this size and repair or replacement with no deductible. Picture is clear remote is good. Sound not as good but I was not planning on using the TV speakers. I use the speakers in my stereo system.
    almost didnt turn on
good TV the product is a good TV for the price. the service was fast and confident. the sound is very bad but it is not the matter because always is true.
satisfaction OK Only had this TV for one month and so far so good. On high definition stations it has beautiful color and resolution. I have cable hookup. On the standard digital stations I feel the definition leaves a lot to be desired. I have two other sets which are only 19 units and 720 dpi but they get very good color and def. on all channels. For $304.00 shipping included this Coby 40 TV is a great buy and my wallet is rather low on the green or I would have spent two C notes more and got a Samsung but since the majority of the stations I watch do come in HD I am very satisfied. As almost everyone else has mentioned the audio is weak and will not put out much volume. Also there is only a RCA type audio output for external speakers I was not happy with that but I bought a $60 RCA 51 surround system and used audio/video cables from the cable converter box and another set of cables from the BluRay to the Sub woofer where all the controls are. and now I have plenty of volume. By the way RCA's mickey mouse remote is a joke it does function OK but its so small it gets lost so easy. So unless something goes wrong when the warranty is done I am very pleased with this Coby flat screen for the price its a great deal.
Cheap TV expensive lesson. I purchased the TV at the very end of December and as of today June 20th the picture has died. The power indicator still flashes when I hit the remote but the screen remains dark indicating that the LCD panel has failed. It's a goner.A cursory Google search reveals that this company will either quote you a ridiculous price for outofwarranty repairs warranty is only 90 days or simply give you the run around until it becomes more of a hassle than it's worth. You could probably hire a lawyer to force the issue but a decent one will cost you $300 an hour. You can do the math.I suspect this company makes money by assembling a barebones product which is designed only to last through the warranty period. Once the 90 days are up you're stuck with whatever you've got.In retrospect I very much wish that I had paid the extra $150 for a Toshiba/LG/Samsung or had even opted for a similarly priced 32 inch TV from a reliable brand. I'd much rather have a smaller TV that's still working today than be stuck with this large piece of plastic that is essentially trash now.I've learned my lesson and will never purchase anything from this company again.
Pretty good deal. Would buy again. I just got mine yesterday and so far it's been pretty good. I use it for a monitor and for console gaming. I have a couple issues that prevent me from giving it a 5 star review though.Pros1 Picture quality is great. I watched a couple game trailers in 1080p and it was amazing2 Really easy to set up. The most difficult part was cleaning off a spot on my desk for it3 Lots of inputs. 3 HDMI 1 component 1 AV 1 coax and 1 VGACons1 The sound quality is horrible2 When playing a game where it's dark it's too dark and turning up the brightness doesn't seem to help as much as it should.3 For PC input it only has VGA no DVI ports. You could use HDMI if you wanted to but no DVI.Overall I don't regret purchasing it.
Can't complain I was skeptical about this TV because of the brand but after receiving it all of that went out the window. Its bright but not enough to blind you and it has enough ports in the back to attach practically whatever you'd like. The USB port is useless and I would have liked it to have some sort of capability. Otherwise the TV was easy to set up and it hasn't blew out on me or faded its colors and I couldn't be more satisfied.
Bought as a gift better than expected Was a little worried after some reviews questioned the quality. Bought it as a gift I wanted to get a TCL we have one ourselves and I can't say enough positive things about their product it's fantastic but it wasn't available. The picture quality is good. The product works was easy to setup. Six weeks in it's working well still. The base isn't super heavy. The bezel is plastic and looks like it. The onscreen menu isn't beautiful like on an LG but for $329 it's not bad at all. It doesn't have the most connectors but if you need that you probably aren't buying discount TV's.Ultimately it works it's reliable so far so it's a great value.
Sound Is Terrible DONOTBUY My First 40inch TV!! I was so ecstatic go a TV past 32inches within my budget HA!!!! I'm so wrong. Picture was mediocre and the sound is so low. I cant take my TV back because its past the 30days even though I am just opening up the box. I plan on buying a Home Theater system to help with the sound. I guess this brand is a hit or miss seeing that some people had no problems with the sound on this model but I will never buy a COBY anything again. I was shocked to learn that the sound was so low. I will stick to the brands I know from now on even if that means spending more than my wallet can handle. DONOT BUYTHISTV.
    Only last 3 months

  • Good TV but has drawback. I got this TV refurbish version from sony itself. After a week's use I am pretty happy with it especially I can mount it on my bedroom wall. It has enough ports for my purpose and the picture quality is as good as my samsung plasma. Overall the setup is simple and straight forward and I would recommend this TV to others. One issue is bothering me that while mounting the TV on the wall you need to remove the TV base. However it leaves a big hole without cover. My samsung does a great job on that which come with a matching cover. I contact sonystyle but was told that there is no ocver for this TV big surprise!! Because of this I will give this TV 4 stars only.
Watch out for any Sony Bravia My Sony bravia died in less then 9 months. Only 2 senior citizens in the house. Sony will NOT stand behind their product. All they will do is send me a refurbished model and they are making me jump thru hoops to get even that. I have to give my credit card number to some stranger so that they can charge the cost of the refurbished model to me if I do not send them back the broken model in 15 days. I live in Montanait takes 15 days to get mail here! I trusted Sony for a good product which they did not deliver ! Check all the reports on them before you buy.
Lives up to the Sony name Soon has the price on this model dropped bought it. Great quality. And for under 600.oo dollars even a better deal.
Excellent TV Bought this TV recently and so far I am very impressed. The picture on this tv is excellent. It exceeds my expectations for a Television. Even nonHD channels look like there in HD. The only problem with this TV is the sound is not that good. Hook up a surround sound system and I see no flaws in this TV.
The Older But Wiser Gal For Me I purchased my Sony BRAVIA KDL40EX500 LCD TV in November 2011 through AMAZON.COM fulfilled by HUPPINS in this case. Already one model year old and fast disappearing the KDL40EX500 is PERFECT for my needs for One Simple Reason analog audio outputs on the back newer models in almost all manufacturers' lines only have TOSLINK out and hooking that up to my legacy stereo would require an adaptor.TV arrived in perfect condition wellpackaged and protected a shipping box outside the product box lightly padded and shipment by FedEx was perfect as always. Setup was a breeze. TV looks good in my Living Room when it's off & displays video beautifully when it's on. It's all good.So. Why wait to buy a newmodel LED TV when this olderbutwiser wise enough to link easily to my McIntosh stereo system LCD model is better? Thanks Amazon. Thanks Huppins. Thanks FedEx.
awesome The television is awesome. the picture quality is superb. i bought this to watch tv and play my xbox 360 and it hasen't let me down.
AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAQUE I bought sony bravia 40 inch ONLY 3 years ago. It was the most expensive TV splurge I made thinking that it would be worth every penny for a good quality product. Last week while watching it out of nowhere the screen went black and never came back. The only activity was the red standby light blinking. I took it to an authorized sony bravia dealer only to find out that the Tv panel was bad and the cost to repair would be $1600 yes you saw it right!! one thousand and six hundred dollars Unfathomable. I am extremely frustrated and in shock. This was the most expensive Tv with the shortest life spam that I have ever owned. It's going to trash. As the title says if you don't want to throw your hard earned dollars into trash avoid it like the plaque.
Good tv It s a nice tv I meant to get the 520 but I misread the title I will just have to wait till the next time around I guess.
Sony TV The TV is of excellent quality. The image adjusts to the light in the room. Installation was very easy and has sufficient ports for additional accessories.
Sony Bravia I love my Sony Bravia the picture is crisp the sound is ok but I would hook it up to a home theater if I were you this is a consumer reports champion you will be satisfied! Oh yeah you won't buy this tv under 700 dollars at a store so use Amazon.

Average TV I have a 4 year old 52 inch Sony Z series TV. The Z series is the quality level just below the topoftheline XBR series. My Z set has a refresh rate of 240 Hz. I expected the KDL40BX421 to have as good or nearly as good a picture as my old Sony Z. After all the technology has improved a lot during the last four years.Boy was I wrong. The picture on the KDL40BX421 is not as sharp and the colors in the red palette are not nearly as good. The KDL40BX421 has a slightly washed out appearance. I have spent time trying to adjust the picture but to no avail. By comparison my old Sony Z has an obviously superior picture.Another problem with the KDL40BX421 is that it doesn't take much action to cause blurring. A moderately fast camera pan is going to cause a little blurring. Perhaps a 60 Hz refresh rate should be limited to 32 inch sets. Also the KDL40BX421 has rear facing speakers. I know its common but why? Additionally the KDL40BX421 has no controls on the set. The only way to turn it on or change the volume and channel is through the remote. In May 2012 I paid $336 in a Sam's Club auction for this set. Shipping and tax cost another $105. Delivery took about 11 days. However if I had waited just two weeks I could have saved some. For a while Sam's was auctioning one to two of these sets every day. The winning bids at the start of June 2012 were usually around $250.

  • Great TV Great Price I got this TV on sale for 430.00At40' and 1080p that was a sweet deal! The other guy who complained that it didnt register 1080p for his computer was probably using a DVI cable to connect.I hooked an HDMI up from my PC to the TV and it rendered a flawless 1080!Great for movies. Those complaining about sound must have gotten a faulty unit. The sound on this one is fine for a TV.
nice tv for the price For $450 this is a solid tv. The colors are vivid and blacks and whites display very well. But being that it's 60 hertz scenes with a lot of movement looked digitized. Other than that an excellent tv. The sound is average but I wouldn't think there are many flat screen tv's with impressive built in speakers. Overall the tv was easy to use. I did end up returning it and buying a 42 vizio that is 120 hertz. It looks way better and was only $100 more.
Jack Spicer review This is my first flatscreen tv and I was concerned that the small speakers would sound tinny. But the sound is as good as my old 45 crt rear projector and it will play loud without additional amplification. You won't need an a/v/ receiver unless you have a surroundsound system. The picture is as good as the source provided and I'm very satisfied with this purchase. This Toshiba tv was a steal at the under $500 price I paid for it brand new.
Great TV I wasn't sure about buying a Tv on the internet but i read all the reviews on this tv and decided to try it. It shipped super fast which was a great surprise. Setting it up was easy from the box to all the hookups it only took about 10 minutes. The picture is just beautiful and it is so easy to use. The HD looks better than i could have imagined. The sound is just right. We have not had a single issue with this tv and i would recomend it to everyone.
Toshiba 40E200U 40Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Black Gloss I have had this TV for a short time and so far fulfills all my needs basically this item meets my expectations in terms of Size Image Quality Functionality and Price.I reccomend this TV to anyone who is considering buying a TV under $500.
Great TV I've owned this TV for about 1 year now. This TV has excellent color scheme excellent volume quality and excellent picture quality. Bluray movies come in great as well as low def. channels. I bought it from Amazon for a great price. I have a felling it will last me quite awhile.
great for the money Great for the money picture is fine and so is sound. Bought warranty from square trade and still cheaper than regular stores.
Great Picture for the Money Although the options on this TV are somewhat limited the quality of the picture is truly outstanding whether movie content sports or other programming. The audio quality isn't quite up to the picture quality but we've enhanced it with other speakers. The finish is attractive and we're quite satisfied overall with the aesthetics.Excellent value for the money.
Excellent picture and excellent value This 40inch Toshiba LCD is perfect for a medium sized room where you're sitting 1015 feet away from the set. The picture is great right out of the box but I've experienced a little rattle in the sound on occasion which I have yet to troubleshoot. One thing you get with this LCD that you really want to have is 3 hdmi inputs. I have Direct TV my DVD player and a Roku player all plugged in and just switch back and forth by changing the input. No jumping around monkeying with cables. If you're in the market for an LCD in this size range you found it.
    Excellent HDTV!

  • The USB harddrive compatibility is very limited and the Customer service is pretty bad! I purchased this model LN40B650 in August2009.I was so glad to find it has feature of media player in the beginning. But I was really disappointed after I found it cannot read any video files e.g. avibigger than 2.0GB saved on my USB driveincluding my USB powered portable harddrive. then I had Live Chat with Samsung's customer service guys for a few times and only one guy told me I should connect my USB harddrive to the upper USB port rather than the lower USB port but it doesn't work eithereven the TV cannot find my USBpowered harddrive either HP or WD brands. So I tried my another WD harddrive which is powered via a separate power cord the TV can find this type of harddrive but it still can only read the video files which are less than 2.0GB. So I had Live Chat with the customer support guys again and again unfortunately I found no guys are familiar with this feature of this TV set and of course I couldn't get any help from them.
Too many problems. I originally bought the LN A650. I would delete channels but they would not stay deleted. After a month of communicating with Samsung they arranged a repairman to inspect it. He claimed it needed a new brain. It was the last time I saw him. He was going to order a new brain but would not return my calls nor the calls by Samsung.Samsung eventually sent me a replacement tva LN B650 which was the newer model. I give full marks to Samsung for doing so but it took 2 months of emails over 30 in total and phone calls to have it done. However the tv I was sent also had issues. I have 4 HDMI ports and 4 AVI ports. Out of 8 different ports only 1 HDMI port works. I didn't realize it until I bought a blu ray player and a PS3 and only one worked. I tried 3 different HDMI cables nothing. Tried different AVI cables. Nothing.Samsung had me reset the tv. Still nothing.Samsung then admitted their is a problem with the back of the tv and apologized for having 7 ports that don't work. What are the odds that I ended up with 2 Samsung tvs that had 2 separate issues? I don't know but it is too many problems for me to stick with Samsung products.
18 month/$1300 TV heading to the trash heap My husband researched televisions for weeks before deciding on purchasing the $1300 Samsung from Amazon for our place down south. The set was wonderful. The picture was great and we thoroughly enjoyed it for the six months a year we used it.Now here we are 18 months later and out of warranty with what my husband calls our $1300 anchor and the set will cost almost as much to fix as a new one is to buy at today's prices.
a great product We bought one about 17 months ago and the TV has worked great and the picture quality is fantastic. We have it hooked up to a rooftop antenna. People that come to visit us comment on how much better the picture is than their own TV. I would definitely recommend the LN40B650.
Perfect Blend A perfect blend of tech spec and price. I still get comments about how much better the picture looks on my TV than on friends. 120Hz needs to be changed often though. Looks great on some things makes others look like soap operas or home movies.
Flashing Red Light I bought this Samsung LN40B650 back in March of 2009 after researching other comparable TV sets and reading the very positive reviews. I primarily used this TV for playing PS3 games and watching NFL games on Sundays. Last month after only a year and 11 months of use the TV would not turn on. The red stand by light now blinks continuously in 8 seconds intervals and in rapid succession whenever I try using the remote. I contacted Samsung who attempted to help me by taking me through a few steps1 They had me disconnect the TV from the surge protector and connect it directly to the wall socket.2 They had me reset the TV using the remote. After both these steps failed to resolve the issue they suggested I take it into a TV repair shop since its out of warranty. After a Google and YouTube search I learned that several other Samsung owners had a very common and similar issue with different models. Checking for bad capacitors and replacing them seemed to fix the problem according to them.
Very happy with our new Samsung HDTV This is our first flat screen TV got tired of waiting for our old tube TV to die.Very happy with the picture quality and the TV was pretty simple and quick to setup.Connected an Apple TV box. Makes it very easy to watch Netflix streaming. The TV comes with software for sending video and images from a PC to theTV but that software only runs on a PC. Since I use a Mac I searched for analternative and found Vuze which is a bittorrent client with the ability to streamdownloaded content to a TV specifically to Samsung TVs. The only disappointmentwith that is that once you start streaming a video from Vuze to the TV you haveto watch the whole thing in one sitting there is no ability to pause. This appearsnot be be a shortcoming of Vuze but rather a shortcoming of the protocol DLNAI believe that the TV and Vuze use to talk with each other. Presumably anyone usingthe PC software that Samsung supplies would have the same problem.
Don't Buy From Samsung I chose Samsung because I loved the picture quality which is still unsurpassed in the marketplace at least in 2009.A year and a half later my Samsung TV buzzes each time I press the power on key. Turning it off sometimes gets rid of the buzzing. The Samsung support though is terrible. They list an 800 number for technical support once you dial it though guess what products are excluded from phone support? You guessed it ALL HD TV's! Samsung refers you to their home web page where a tedious questionnaire awaits you. Oh and the live chat function doesn't work because ALL THE TIME it is unavailable due to the high number of calls! There is no email support either. The TV has its own problems besides buzzing. If you have a cable connection mine is Comcast and cable technicians hook the cable to Component 1 or anything but TV on Samsung's source list CLOSED CAPTIONING WILL NOT WORK! Also the time feature is designed very poorly buried in menus one would think the alarm feature would be more accessible.
Great TV One Big Flaw This is a great TV. I agree with the other posters about quality look etc.I also agree that the one BIG FLAW with the TV is that you cannot just dial in a station. We still have rabbit ears yes it's low tech and ridiculous but we use the TV mostly for movies and don't watch a lot and so the antenna has to be in the perfect position then you have to scan to hopefully pick up all the stations. We still have some stations we were getting on our old tube TV with a digital converter that we can't get anymore b/c the scan misses it. As well sometimes stations go missing even if it picked it up initially maybe it autoscans every now and then? who knows. Even if you view it in the Channel manager it still doesn't find it.To be honest I have yet to try the ethernet but that's on my listIt's kind of odd that it has ethernet but I guess they are banking on the future of streaming media. But overall it has all the features audio out big deal as the other Samsung that is cheaper does NOT have audio outbeware! HDMI ports digital monitor port for computers etc. The color is very good but I'm finding faces to be a little washed out at times. Good controls.
Excellent Picturebut no Audio Out adjustment I agree with all of the other reviewers regarding picture quality. Better picture than comparable Sony models in my opinion. But I think it's lame that the audio out signal cannot be controled by the TV's remote control. So you have to use the TV remote for everything except the volume control if you're using external speakers. The volume for your external speakers must be controlled by the external sound system's remote. This is the first TV I've ever owned where the audio out couldn't be controlled by the TV remote.

  • Great TV at a reasonable price I absolutely love this TV. I am somewhat embarrassed to say anything negative so please don't allow my comments to stop you from buying this model. The picture quality is amazing. I can find 3 slight problems one of which I resolved. That is the sound during when the sports scene is selected amplifies the ambient sounds the crowd noise the crack of a bat so much so that the announcers are difficult to hear. However in the menu it is easy to turn off those sounds so you get an incredible picture with normal sound. Also for someone like me who has ADD I use the DirectTV Guide while still watching a program. Normally I can see the program and hear it while looking at the Guide. With this TV the voices are extremely distorted. And finally the controls like changing channels using DirectTV List etc. do not function for about the first 30 sections when the TV is turned on. This may be an energy saving element as the TV has an Energy Star rating. But please do not allow these minor issues deter you from buying this TV.
TV is good while it lasts. We bought this LCD TV in March. Three and a half months later the unit no longer works. We are still dealing with Sony Customer Service in terms of replacing the unit! They want to give us a refurbished unit i.e. one that broke down previously rather than a new oneand have the warranty continue from March. So much for Sony backing their products.During the brief time that the LCD TV worked we found the picture quality to be fine for us. Like other consumers have commented the sound system is weak but we have ours connected to speakers through our receiver so we are happy with the sound quality. The controls are a major annoyance. We have to press the on button for 20 seconds and then wait for the Sony logo to appear before we can release the button. I feel like I did when I was a kid waiting for the console TV to warm up.I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone based upon our experience. There are better products out there and Sony's Customer Service underscored why customers should shy away from this companay.
A good all around TV for the bedroom Sony has one of the best for control and speed. It looks good. an LED TV would be even better.
Good Deal at this price I recently bought this Sony Ex400 and I found the performance as excellent and worth the price that I paid..
the worst model this lcd is a piece of crap. three months worked perfectly. but today a black line is crossing the whole lcd.I call contact center but it does not help at all. buy some lg or samsung.
Not too bad! I looked for tvs prob for at least 6 months before i finally bought this one. It doesnt have a lot of the features i want but i couldnt pass up on it for 425 at the sony outlet. Well worth the money i got it over 3 months ago and the price has actually gone up.
best LCD tv made for over the air HD broadcasts The Sony Brand has Served me well over the Years and this TV is no exception. You cn't go wrong with a Sony Bravia. My next door neighbor works for Verizon & he said that my 720p LCD Bravia connected to my Terk Outdoor HD Antenna had a better picture then any other TV he had seen that was on Fios or Cable. You can't lose.
Excellent LCD TV in every way! This TV may only be a 60Hz LCD HD TV but you won't know it from the beautiful and fluid picture and motion you enjoy on this beauty! I have had this for almost a year now and have had no technical issues with it. It works like a clock! The sound quality is truly exceptional from the builtin downfiring speakers and there are many adjustments including a multiband equalizer and the simpler treble/bass controls sound offset etcThe sharpness is noticeably better than the Samsungs I had seen last May when I got this and is truly stunning. The picture really jumps out at you. It also has a very bright screen and an ambient light sensor if you desire to use it which lowers and raises the screen brightness depending on how dark or bright it is in your TV room.
was great til it died Piece of crap! So yesterday it turned off by itself today won't turn on tries green light flashes flashes again then nothin but red light flashing. Won't go on. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!! This tv is less than a year old Sony Bravia kdl BLOWS!!!!! I have never ever had a problem with it been great til now. And I won't stop letting everyone know until Sony makes it right with me. Trust me google it there are entire websites about it. I feel robbed by what I thought was a reputable company.
Fantastic picture great value This TV provides an excellent picture. Excellent clarity and contrast. Rich colors and beautiful picture all around. Sony does sell it cheaper directly on their site. Consider picking up a thirdparty remote even a generic remote from your favorite superstore. The provided remote works just fine but could be more comfortable. Then again most included remotes aren't that hot. Sound is just fine. Not mindblowing but nothing to complain about.

Sony Bravia KDL 40S5100 40 Inch 1080p DO NOT BUY!! BEWARE!

Horrible issues with this model, Lets start off with the faults:

    1. Sound randomly starts to stutter and drops out. Then randomly stutters and comes back in. Sony repaired 3 times each time it came back the same way it was sent off..with random audio drop outs.

    2. HD picture quality is ok. SD picture quality is flat our horrible.

    3. Blacks are almost grays and where you should see a gradual change in colors such as in a evening sunset there is obvious banding.

    4.
    prices went down some,
So happy to have bought this., I originally purchased a 32 inch Sony Bravia HDTV, and then I saw this one on sale here... so I purchased it without hesitation. $50 more and I could get a 40 inch! Great TV... can't believe it was so inexpensive. No freeze frames, good color. Very happy.
Sony = terrible customer service, I bought this TV just before Christmas 2009 and it has has not worked properly since day 1. First of all, The HDMI inputs didn't work all the time. Periodically when turning the TV on, there is a picture but no sound, or sound and no picture. Reseating the HDMI cable fixes it temporarily. The TV also pops loudly and reboots itself 3 or 4 times a week. Sony farms out repair to a local company and the local guy said Sony has had problems with direcTV DVR's. He called Sony and they authorized replacing the main board and power supply. This did fix the HDMI problems but not the loud popping and reboooting. Another repair call required replacement of the LCD panel. After waiting another 2 weeks for this, the replacement panel wouldn't even turn on so he had to put the old panel back in. Sony then said they would replace the TV and I'd be called within 3 days. This is when the real trouble started. I got a garbled message requesting I fax my original purchase receipt to a toll number in Florida. I couldn't make out the number and the rep left no call back. The next day, I had another garbled message but managed to get the phone number and some of my "reference number" out of the message. The next day I got a third call saying the information was incomplete - now they want the retailer's name and address even though the first 2 messages didn't ask for that. Again, no call back number was given. Sony's website doesn't list any toll free numbers, either, so I had to pay to talk to them. That's when I found out the Florida number just bouces to a call center in the Phillipines. Eventually, they got the information (that they already had) and called a week later, leaving another toll number for me to call. This time, they offered to sell me the latest Sony TV at a cost of 300 dollars more OR a refurbished TV. Considering I bought a NEW TV and it didn't work from the beginning, I wasn't too happy. Sony only offers new replacement within the first 30 days, even though any intermittent problem will NEVER be resolved within that time, so everybody gets a used one for replacement.
I will never buy another Sony Product, We literally bought four (4) of these pieces of junk starting Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 through Feb. 28, 2010. Each one had issues within 2-5 days. We took all four (4) back based upon the advice of Sony Technicians, and I tried to call Sony to seek help. I spent a total of 4 1/2 hours over 5 days on the phone, mostly on hold, waiting to talk to a person. I finally was told "that is beyond our control, you need to talk to someone in Customer Relations." FYI, if you try to call Customer Relations at 1-239-768-7547, which by the way is the number that is listed on Sony's web-site, the first thing you will notice is it is a "long distance call." The second thing you will notice is you will be on hold for a minimum of 30 minutes waiting to talk to someone. The third thing you will find is that you aren't calling Sony Customer Relations at all.

You are calling Product Support, who will ask you dozens of the same question, until you have wasted more of your day and money on the long distance call. Only after you get so angry you are ready to spit nails do they say "you need to talk to someone in Sony Customer Relations." Then the fun really begins as Sony Customer Relations is only open on Monday through Friday.
Perfect tv does everything perfectly, I decided to rate this TV after I saw another Sony widescreen model at my friend's and realized how mine is SO much better.

First, if offers plenty of HDMI outlets (for my DirecTV, Roku/Netflix, and Blu-Ray DVD) on both the back and side.

The image quality hardly needed any tweaks out of the box.

The remote (only used when switching outputs) is so ridiculously easy that even my mother can figure it out.

All in all, the best darn TV I've seen and the perfect size for my large living room. You really can't go wrong.
Junk, This is the 2nd Sony I've purchased. I guess I can be criticizd for making a mistake twice, as the other Sony we had went completely out after 3 years. Worked fine for about 13 months, then approximately 1/5th of the screen started going out and it's now just a black band along the right side. Repair man is on the way - again. I won't buy another Sony TV and I can't recommend any Sony.
Pretty good value while it works, I had my KDL40S4100 for a little over 2 years and the LCD panel is going. Thankfully I purchased a warranty from the store instead of SONY(Soounds like they are a nightmare to deal with). I always tried to purchase SONY products because I've had some great luck with them but, this TV only lasting 2 years wasn't so good. I would still use their other products but, am going with Samsung after this. I have a Samsung in my Bedroom that I picked up on the cheap and have been very happy with it. Also, they get great reviews. Sorry to those who only have a SONY warranty. Next time, go with the stores warranty. You may pay a little more but, you know where to go if you get a run-around.
Serious Audio Flaws, The picture of this TV is OK. The audio is really bad. 1. random crackling static 2. tinny speakers 3. rca audio jacks will not work while using hdmi for video only, even though manual says it should work.
DO NOT BUY!! BEWARE!, I bought this tv 15 months ago and I started to have problems with it right after the 12 month. I did not buy extended warranty trusting a name like SONY. I have researched a lot and apparently all the motherboards in this model can and go wrong eventually. My tv just won't turn on out of sudden. Please read for yourself on this problem on other reputable sites. DO NOT BUY it. As far as customer service SONY has lost me FOREVER. I gave it one star because the option of zero stars is not available.

Sharp AQUOS LC40D68UT 40 Inch 1080p Not so good TV

Excellent product!, Bought it refurbished but it looks brand new. The lacquered frame is typical on HDTV nowadays. The color and viewing angle is excellent. The color and brightness is better than my old Aquos HDTV. The remote is simple but it should have been a universal remote because my old Aquos had it. Quality is top notch. Sound was fine like any another TV. What the other review may be experiencing is your surround sound setting from your AV receiver.
You get what you pay for., Very cheap and good working TV...although the picture is hard to adjust on the dvd player (but this could be because my current dvd player is a little broken, and if so, it is worth the '5' stars!) however the computer hdmi input is instantly beautiful, and have NOT had any sound issues or anything like that.
Not so good TV, I purchased this TV from another website not Amazon. The goods: Picture quality viewed from straight on and low lag. The bad: Please make sure that you will only be viewing this TV square in front otherwise the color shift is very drastic. Also the sound is just not good. You have to watch Tv with the remote at hand because it comes out too low in some scenes and too loud in others. Overall not satisfied with purchase.
Tv was gift, Was a gift for the in-laws, and a huge improvement over what they had. The only thing the father-in-law wants now is an extra speaker setup, to make the big tv experience more enjoyable when he watches his old war movies.
60hz vs. Sharp AQUOS LC40D78UN @ 120hz, This is the same TV @60 hz as the Sharp AQUOS LC40D78UN @ 120hz.

Check the 78 series out. I recently bought the LC40D78UN for $499.00.

All in all either are great HDTV.
BEST LCD HDTV for Gaming, When it came time for me to upgrade my TV's, I researched very thoroughly for a TV that has as little lag as possible as my fiance and I game HEAVILY. I had read on some forums that Sharp TV's in particular are among the best, and now that I purchased one I must agree. Any HD resolution, set on game mode, has zero lag. Button presses are instantaneously shown on-screen. So your Wii, Playstation 2 and 3, Xbox, XBox 360...all of those play fantastic. If you play old school games, the lag is next to zero. It's so minimal that I can still pull off combos and counters easily in Street Fighter Alpha 3 or Darkstalkers for the Playstation 1. And this TV has another big plus: it can play standard definition games (240p) through component cables. What this means is that you can play, for instance, playstation 1 games (at their 240p resolution), on a playstation 2 over component cables. The TV does all the process work, and on "Game Mode", it's fantastic to play. 480i plays fantastic as well.

Picture quality is great, and if you're not on "game mode', the lag is still very minimal.
Great TV, Absolutely no complaints or disappointments. Produces far less heat than my previous set, so obviously uses less power. Great Picture, Great Sound.
Excellent second TV, This is a second TV for a bed room. The primary TV is a 52" Sharp in a family room. Set mounted easily on our wall and has an excellent picture. Color, sharpness, and brightness are excellent as expected from Sharp. Setup was easy and all adjustments were made without problems. Basic cable set up was no problem and the two tuners separated out the basic from the HD.

With a 16:9 aspect ratio, Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 and fine color purity, it's a solid choice to carry you into the high-definition future. Sharp's high performance LCD Panel provides a high dynamic contrast ratio, 6ms response time, and wide viewing angles. Westinghouse VR-6025Z 60" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV Low price/low expectations, but High Praise!

Target BF buy worth the price of 298, Yes, this was a Bf buy at $298. For that price do not ever expect high end quality, or too many bells and whistles.
For $298 expect what it says it does. It is 1080p capable. It has 3 HDMI ports. It was $298.

I cant stress the price point enough. You absoulutely get what you pay for. I paid for two. One is a gift, the other was a favor. I hooked it up and here is my opinion.

The picture quality is maybe a little above mediocre for a 1080p tv. It is definitely a huge step up from any CRT TV. It is not an industry leader by any means, but it gets the basic job done quite nicely for its price point.

Sports fans, beware. This set is prone to fast motion blurr. Slow motion looks fantastic, but as soon as that camera starts waving around, do not expect to read any banners in the background clearly. Other than that, you will have a nice pic to watch the game on.

Movie buffs, well again a nice pic, not the best, but not the worst either. 298 DOLLARS.

Gamers... I havent tried it, but from my opinion it may not be the best spec tv for your situation either.

This TV is best suited for Occasional viewers, who enjoy a crisp, HD tv show now and again.

Overall for the price on BF, you cannot go wrong, as long as it works. I would definitely not pay more than 450 for this tv though. If I had to I would most likely drop down 8" for a name brand higher quality tv. BUT FOR 298!!!! C'MON.
not bad at all, So I got this hdtv amazingly cheap on black friday (almost half off). I would say you get what you pay for but perhaps for this tv you get more.
    Cons:
-bad contrast ratio; way too much noise, you have to adjust it to somewhere around "20" on the picture settings
-60hz; but for some reason the active frequency on the tv just says "24 hz" while watching blu ray movies for some reason. Just seems to be too fuzzy.
    Pros:
-3 hdmi inputs is pretty decent
    -fairly sharp
    -vga input pretty useful
    -1080p.
Great TV!, My family bought 3 of these TV's at Target, on Black friday(2010).
No Sound - Westinghouse never fixed product after mailed in!, Everything about the TV is worth the price except for one minor problem. When I fast forward or use any portion of my Dish Network DVR, the sound goes out!! It also goes out if the TV is left on for longer peroids of time (movies, football games) I don't understand why, but I contacted Westinghouse about the problem and they were very nice about having it sent in for repairs. The only problem is, I got the TV back from service today and it's in worse condition than it was before! Not only does the sound still go out, but now the screen is permanently damaged at the corners (probably from shipping). I followed the tracking both ways and they apparently didn't even work on the product.

I'm going to return the TV at Target.
The Best Bang for the Buck, This is a great tv. I say that as someone who once worked in the home theater department at Best Buy. I have been around all kinds of TV's from 19 inch store brands to 60 inch Pioneers. In my days at Best Buy I often waved customers away from Westinghouse. When the opportunity arose to get a 40 inch for $300 dollars I threw caution out the window and decided to give it a shot. I am so glad I did. I can't believe the amazing picture quality. I have hooked up regular cable, X-box 360 through composite, and Blu-ray through HDMI. They all look great. The menus are a little dated, and 60hz will always blur a bit on sports. All in all though this is a great tv. I couldn't be happier. Also do yourself a favor and buy all your accessories from Amazon. Amazon has the best price and quality on HDMI cables around.
Purchased after blackfriday for $298 and I still feel ripped off., I'm not going to go into detail, but my 5 year old 32" LCD (also a westinghouse) looks 100x better than this tv. There are so many ridiculous artifacts, the sharpness is far too high even when set to "0", and my videogames (even the menu) look far "jaggier". It's just an awful, low quality tv. I should have just sucked it up and bought a better, more expensive tv.
    Great TV,
Low price/low expectations, but High Praise!, I purchased this television on Black Friday 2010 from Target and for the under $400 price, did not expect a great HDTV. I was expecting a "good enough" tv to watch the HD Channels on cable and the occasional sporting event or movie. Needless to say I am more than happy with this great TV. The picture quality on 1080P channels is amazing and the look and finish are great. It is a great fit for my small living room and but isn't so small that the viewing experience is diminished.
westinghouse 40"1080 lcd tv, My husband stood in line black friday for 6 hours to purchase this tv for me at Target as a christmas gift. It looked great out of the box and showed a decent picture. However you do "get what you pay for" with this tv. After approximately 2 months, I was sitting in bedroom watching the news when I heard a "POP"! The tv had turned off. I thought maybe we had a short in the outlet but the other components were still on. Would not turn on when plugged in other outlets either. I ended up taking it back to Target and received a full refund. Thank You Target! In short, save your money and spend a little more for a better tv. Very disappointing.
Better than expected, I bought this TV from Target on Black Friday, like a lot of other people. Admittedly, I didn't have very high expectations, but the specs looked pretty good, other than the 2000:1 contrast ratio. That's pretty low but for the $300 I paid for it, I'm not complaining.

If it was some random brand that I had never heard of, I wouldn't have touched it. I've looked at Westinghouse products before though, and they make some pretty decent mid-range LCD computer monitors. So I decided to take the risk.

When I got it home, I unboxed it immediately. I was thinking it was gonna look pretty cheap, but it was nice and glossy like my Samsung. I hooked it up to my computer using the VGA output, to test out the picture. To my surprise, it was actually quite crisp and nice. I played some games on it and didn't see any noticeable ghosting or anything.

The speakers are pretty lack-luster, however. It's decent for watching TV, but for movies, music, or games, the built in speakers just don't cut it. They distort a little at high volumes and don't have any bass. I never had any intention of using the built in speakers though, I hooked it up to my surround sound as soon as I put it in my living room. I was disappointed that it didn't have TOSLINK outputs though. My receiver doesn't support HDMI, and the only way I can get digital sound is through a TOSLINK cable. It would have been nice if they included an Optical output, but it's not that big of a deal.

For the money, the TV is really nice overall. It's got a great picture, just don't use the built in speakers. I would recommend it for anyone who has a $500 and under price range.

Viore LC40VF60 1080p LCD Television Very Good TV

Dont do it, My Viore 40in, 1080p went out 2 weeks prior to having it 1 year. the manufacture sent over a repair guy who could not get parts from them. might i add that this was sept. 2011 and today i still have not tv. i called today reqarding the status and they acted as if they had no clue about the status. i will never buy another viore again, get a real brand name.
This TV was a great investment!, This is the first HD Tv that I have ever purchased and I must say that it was such a great buy for the money. I don't have experience with other HD televisions to compare the quality, but I think it has a great sharp picture and we are very pleased with the speaker quality as opposed to other reviewers. This TV however, I must admit is not in a large room, rather a 12' x 12' bedroom.
Very Good TV, This TV is a very good deal at great price. The picture and sound quality are perfect. Love the swivel mount and great viewing angle. Would recommend it to anybody.
Very Good TV, a notch below perfect!, If I could rate this TV more accurately I would give it a 4.7 out of 5 possible stars. The quality video-wise for the TV is outstanding! It is crystal clear video quality, no complaints, other than it is a very, very, VERY unnoticeable margin between great and excellent. The difference is so small, however, that it can be overlooked with it's price. The Sound quality however, suffered a bit. The bass has to be turned to a low setting and don't try to crank everything up to max. The speakers are not of the best quality and cannot handle much, but it is also disregard-able as long as the bass remains on a relatively low setting. The delay/lag for this TV is incredibly unnoticeable, even when using Component cables there is almost no delay between the input and response. Overall, if you are looking for a pretty good quality HDTV at a low price, this is your best buy.
