Sylvania LC407SS1 40 Inches 1080p LCD Garbage. Do not buy sylvania

It works. Yes. It works., It works ok. If you are on a budget and are looking for a +40'' HDTV, just know you can still do better. It has an S-Video input - which I believe most TVs have VGA inputs instead. There are a decent amount of HDMI inputs, but it is lacking an optical audio output. The picture quality is also pretty strange. It is very pixelated and the black/white levels are off a bit. I've tested using quality HDMI cables for Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, Blu-Ray Player, and Digital Cable. It can go from looking pretty great to OK. I would only recommend if this were under $400.
Garbage. Do not buy sylvania, Do not buy. I bought this TV thinking it was a good deal and it crapped out after 4 months (1 month after the labor warranty ended). I called Sylvania and jumped through their hoops until they finally just told me that I was screwed and would have to pay for the repair myself. By the time you pay for repair after only 4 months of use, you might as well buy yourself something nice from the start. Don't waste your time with any of this company's products. Let them stick to making light bulbs... that's obviously all that they are good at.

Sharp AQUOS LC32DV28UT 32 Inch Combo Love this TV!

Love this TV!, This TV has a very sharp picture, great color, and good sound. The big bonus is the DVD slot in the side of the TV, so you can put DVDs in and instantly play them. No need to turn to a certain channel, push "video input" or anything else. Just play it. I bought this for my elderly aunt because I knew it would be simple enough for her to use in her assisted living apartment, and she would be able to watch her Netflix movies without assistance. It worked perfectly for that purpose, and I'm so impressed with it I'm buying one for myself.
DVD doesn't work, The TV worked good, but the DVD player had a problem and it didn't work at all.
When we tried to put DVD in, it did not accept it.
So we ended up returning this item.
Great TV-------trusted brand, I am very happy with this TV......very nice picture and sound.

I only buy Sharp for over 30 years. you cannot kill a Sharp....they keep going and going. The only time I buy a new one,is when I have a need for a larger size or need a additional tv in the home.
Beauty of a T.V., great price and also no shipping cost a huge plus., Absolutely gorgeous picture. Have been pricing others of equal quality and seems most can be bought at that price but without the built in DVD! So the price is very reasonable and quite a steal to get the DVD plus you get the Aquos high quality picture to boot.....excellent buy and despite free shipping, still delivered pretty fast.
Great TV, Bought this for master bedroom. DVD is on the side which presents no problem as the TV is wallmounted. Picture quality is great. I would recommend the vendor and TV to anyone.
These Work Great Until They Don't, These things are lemons. Please google "sharp aquos will not power on" and you'll see hundreds of examples of these things dying for no good reason. Just like my 1 year old lcd which was connected to a furman power condition and ups. Do yourself a favor and buy a lcd from a different manufacturer.
Expected more from Sharp Aquos, HD picture not sharp as other tv's I have owned or seen. Picture not even as good as my 2001 Sharp Aquos 20" standard definition tv which I love and won't replace.
Remote is not intuitive. Not for an old person. The dvd player is inconsistent. Some dvd's freeze and hiccup throughout; some play ok. The ones that hiccup play just fine on another set.
Sharp AQUOS 32-Inch LCD TV - LOVE IT!!, The TV arrived in reasonable time and packaged well.
Lemon, These TVs are lame! Mine worked just ok for about two years. When I say ok I mean I had hdmi audio problems when connected to PS3 and random glitches while watching HD channels. HDMI ports were sub-par and finally after connecting directly to cable and using analog for my bluray/PS3 I could get a few decent hours of viewing. This is my bedroom TV so it's not used that much. Now it wont even turn on! It went from it's mediocre self to not even working..... at all. Like the other review said, just google " my Sharp aquos wont turn on" and you'll see I'm not alone.

    Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV I love this TV

I love this TV, Stunning visual performance while watching HD movies. Awesome graphics while playing Battlefield 3, Call of Duty, and other games on my Xbox 360. It doubles as a great monitor for my laptop (using HDMI output). This TV also has some of the best speakers I've ever heard on a flatscreen TV. I listen to music from my laptop on it and never stop being impressed with the clarity. Some audiophiles out there may disagree but to me it sounds fantastic. Happy with this purchase and would buy this TV again.
Excellent Value for HD TV, We purchased this TV from Amazon to use as our main viewing machine in our family room. Hats off to our 20 year old 30 inch Zenith which was still working but did not fill the bill for our family viewing when we were together for holidays.

The Panasonic was a dream to set up. We are not uber-geeks and did not relish having to spend hours doing techie type stuff. No problem.
Missing parts -- AVOID!!!!, I unboxed my Panasonic TV this morning and found the same problem as a poster back in October. Panasonic did not include the four screws needed to attached the TV to the base. What's surprising to me is they knew about this problem four months ago and didn't bother to make sure it didn't happen again. They use their customer's as their QA.

Unbelievably, Panasonic said the missing screws couldn't be their fault. They said they have no control what retailers do with their product (meaning Amazon is responsible for the missing screws). The box, nor any of the internal packaging had never been opened. A sealed bag inside the sealed manual bag had four screws, not 8.

But wait, there's more. If I fax my receipt and case number, Panasonic said they'd ship new screws in 7 to 10 business days!

    AVOID this model. AVOID Panasonic.
Great Picture, Great Price, This TV arrived in 2 days and I had the base attached and the TV hooked up and running in 30 minutes. The price was great at ~ $600 and the picture quality is exceptional. I'm currently only using it with a DVR hooked up via HDMI cable.
Satisfaction, What can I say? Being in the videography field, most techs i've talked to over the last few years swear by Panasonic as a legitimate manufacturer of high quality video equipment. For the last 10 years I was working with a 480i resolution TV. Upgraded to the Viera LCD 1080P and then, 1 month later, got this DMP BDT210 Blu-Ray player that's down converted to play standard DVD's also.
Awesome TV!, Looks as good or better than any other 42" LCD TV. Arrived on time, no problems. Nicely packaged. Runs cool, beautiful picture. Great purchase! I chose Panasonic because I had an ancient Panasonic DVD player that I was very pleased with, a quality device. Panasonic delivers again, this TV is very nicely made. I couldn't be more pleased with it. Mounted it on the wall with a Cheetah ALAMLB mount, also from Amazon.
So Far its Perfect!, I got the TV with high hopes of it being perfect to match with my Xbox360 and my blu ray player. I usually don't like to buy TV's online because I worked customer service for an online company so I had first hand experience with how bad it can get. Well this TV seemed to have the screen quality I was looking for and not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on TV this deal seemed like the one for me.

I decided to take the plunge and buy it off of Amazon. It was delivered by UPS a few days later with no damage done to the box. It was shipped in the same box you would receive it in from a store, as mentioned in the product information, but no extra protection was needed. Within 15 minutes of receiving this TV I had it up and running. I attached my Xbox and I couldn't believe how good it looked!!!! This TV's performance instantly justified its cost. The motion, the colors and the contrast all looked great. I usually am not a big gamer or movie watcher but I can't seem to get away from this TV. It is that good! If your looking at TVs in this price range I recommend this one hands down. My parents got a comparable samsung model for about the same cost and its picture looks very pixelated compared to this.
2 years still strong, My family has owned this HDTV for a little over 2 years and it is still running like new.
Quality TV at a good price, I bought this based on the reviews here at Amazon and I am not disappointed. The quality is great and the delivery was on time. The settings options on the TV allows everyone to adjust the picture to their own taste. The only issue is that I found similar TV's for less after I bought this but that may be a reflection of the rapidly changing and competitive economy. The cost was $600 and with tax and shipping, it cost almost $700. Still, at the end of the day, I am very happy with the quality.
Great TV, Thanks for the excellent product(s) information that certainly made selecting the right flat screen TV. Just what we were looking for to purchase. O what a Christmas present!
Panasonic VIERA is all that it was stated to be......arrived in short order, simple to set up, easily fine tuned, Picture and sound quality are
    just perfect.

Panasonic TC-L42U25 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV One of the best deals ever on Amazon

Fantastic Performance, This is an awesome T.V I will call it a warhorse among T.Vs. I am using it for more than 9 months now. I live alone so I did all the set up myself. It took about half an hour to do it. The performance is Fantastic and I would suggest this T.V to anyone. The price compared to other T.Vs is great too. I had bit of an issue with color in the beginning but that's because I've had bad ligting in my room. I spent about 15 min playing with the color correction and from then onwards never really changed anything. This T.V was literally on for 6 months as I was unemployed and almost slept on the couch all the time. No issues at all with its clarity or performance. Worth every penny spent on it.
One of the best deals ever on Amazon, We caught this on a 24 hour deal and paid less than it is priced even today. Awesome TV, low glare versus most in its category- this is truly a HUGE difference versus friends TV's even in my electronics knowledge. It is just easier to look at with the low glare. Super value and best TV we have ever had.
Great first LCD TV, Purchased in Jan '11 for a great price, and it's been a solid boy. Decent for gaming (haven't done any hardcore stuff with it, just basic Wii games) and great for DVD's. I use it maily with my roku player and HD content looks great after a few menu tweaks. My only complaint is the sound quality, It's just ok.
    excelente,
Great TV for the purchase price, This is a wonderful, very high quality tv for the purchase price that I paid (got it on a deal day, Black Friday i think? for 499) shipped. The only thing I do not like is that it is not internet capable - :-( I never understood what the big deal would be, but with so many services coming up online for movie rentals now, i.e.
Great TV for a great price., I bought this TV tv 11 months ago at the $549 price and felt it was time to chime in with a few words. At the time I was looking for a TVs in the $500 - $600 range, read many amazon reviews, and ended up going with this one. Out the box, I was a little concerned. It was fairly heavy and I had to tweak a bit with the settings to get the picture I was looking for. Ever since then it has been a dream. It looks amazing in HD and works has been a dream with my new xbox 360.

I will be upgrading soon with a bit of patience, reviews read, and a larger screen/more money spent. The trusty Panasonic will be shifted to the bedroom at that point. If you are looking for a great $500 TV, you can't go wrong with this one. It's a little heavy and will take a few minutes out the box to find the viewing setting that suits you, but I've had no troubles at all and overall am thrilled with this purchase.
One of the best purchases ever!, I love everything about this TV. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great TV and doesn't want to spend a thousand dollars.
Only 7 months of operation..., We purchased this TV in December for use in our bedroom. It worked just fine until we returned from a 2-week vacation on July 20. Just to clarify, the TV was unplugged during that period of time. When I plugged it back in, it worked for one day, and thereafter could not be turned back on.
Neither the remote control nor the "On" button located on the TV would turn the unit on. I also tried other electrical outlets in the room, to no avail.
And the red light in front of the TV was off, so it was obvious it was not getting any power.
"Run away! Run away!" - Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Purchased at the beginning of February 2011. Stopped working June 30 2011. Upon calling Panasonic and going thru their troubleshooting, had to take it to another State to be serviced under warranty (thank God!). It is August 15 and I'm still waiting for the part from Panasonic!(power board)My question is: If a power board from a NEW TV is back-ordered that long, how many other orders for that same board caused that back-order? I can tell I'm a-gonna have trouble with this TV in the future, and with Panasonic.

Westinghouse VR-6025Z 60" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV Low price/low expectations, but High Praise!

Target BF buy worth the price of 298, Yes, this was a Bf buy at $298. For that price do not ever expect high end quality, or too many bells and whistles.
For $298 expect what it says it does. It is 1080p capable. It has 3 HDMI ports. It was $298.

I cant stress the price point enough. You absoulutely get what you pay for. I paid for two. One is a gift, the other was a favor. I hooked it up and here is my opinion.

The picture quality is maybe a little above mediocre for a 1080p tv. It is definitely a huge step up from any CRT TV. It is not an industry leader by any means, but it gets the basic job done quite nicely for its price point.

Sports fans, beware. This set is prone to fast motion blurr. Slow motion looks fantastic, but as soon as that camera starts waving around, do not expect to read any banners in the background clearly. Other than that, you will have a nice pic to watch the game on.

Movie buffs, well again a nice pic, not the best, but not the worst either. 298 DOLLARS.

Gamers... I havent tried it, but from my opinion it may not be the best spec tv for your situation either.

This TV is best suited for Occasional viewers, who enjoy a crisp, HD tv show now and again.

Overall for the price on BF, you cannot go wrong, as long as it works. I would definitely not pay more than 450 for this tv though. If I had to I would most likely drop down 8" for a name brand higher quality tv. BUT FOR 298!!!! C'MON.
not bad at all, So I got this hdtv amazingly cheap on black friday (almost half off). I would say you get what you pay for but perhaps for this tv you get more.
    Cons:
-bad contrast ratio; way too much noise, you have to adjust it to somewhere around "20" on the picture settings
-60hz; but for some reason the active frequency on the tv just says "24 hz" while watching blu ray movies for some reason. Just seems to be too fuzzy.
    Pros:
-3 hdmi inputs is pretty decent
    -fairly sharp
    -vga input pretty useful
    -1080p.
Great TV!, My family bought 3 of these TV's at Target, on Black friday(2010).
No Sound - Westinghouse never fixed product after mailed in!, Everything about the TV is worth the price except for one minor problem. When I fast forward or use any portion of my Dish Network DVR, the sound goes out!! It also goes out if the TV is left on for longer peroids of time (movies, football games) I don't understand why, but I contacted Westinghouse about the problem and they were very nice about having it sent in for repairs. The only problem is, I got the TV back from service today and it's in worse condition than it was before! Not only does the sound still go out, but now the screen is permanently damaged at the corners (probably from shipping). I followed the tracking both ways and they apparently didn't even work on the product.

I'm going to return the TV at Target.
The Best Bang for the Buck, This is a great tv. I say that as someone who once worked in the home theater department at Best Buy. I have been around all kinds of TV's from 19 inch store brands to 60 inch Pioneers. In my days at Best Buy I often waved customers away from Westinghouse. When the opportunity arose to get a 40 inch for $300 dollars I threw caution out the window and decided to give it a shot. I am so glad I did. I can't believe the amazing picture quality. I have hooked up regular cable, X-box 360 through composite, and Blu-ray through HDMI. They all look great. The menus are a little dated, and 60hz will always blur a bit on sports. All in all though this is a great tv. I couldn't be happier. Also do yourself a favor and buy all your accessories from Amazon. Amazon has the best price and quality on HDMI cables around.
Purchased after blackfriday for $298 and I still feel ripped off., I'm not going to go into detail, but my 5 year old 32" LCD (also a westinghouse) looks 100x better than this tv. There are so many ridiculous artifacts, the sharpness is far too high even when set to "0", and my videogames (even the menu) look far "jaggier". It's just an awful, low quality tv. I should have just sucked it up and bought a better, more expensive tv.
    Great TV,
Low price/low expectations, but High Praise!, I purchased this television on Black Friday 2010 from Target and for the under $400 price, did not expect a great HDTV. I was expecting a "good enough" tv to watch the HD Channels on cable and the occasional sporting event or movie. Needless to say I am more than happy with this great TV. The picture quality on 1080P channels is amazing and the look and finish are great. It is a great fit for my small living room and but isn't so small that the viewing experience is diminished.
westinghouse 40"1080 lcd tv, My husband stood in line black friday for 6 hours to purchase this tv for me at Target as a christmas gift. It looked great out of the box and showed a decent picture. However you do "get what you pay for" with this tv. After approximately 2 months, I was sitting in bedroom watching the news when I heard a "POP"! The tv had turned off. I thought maybe we had a short in the outlet but the other components were still on. Would not turn on when plugged in other outlets either. I ended up taking it back to Target and received a full refund. Thank You Target! In short, save your money and spend a little more for a better tv. Very disappointing.
Better than expected, I bought this TV from Target on Black Friday, like a lot of other people. Admittedly, I didn't have very high expectations, but the specs looked pretty good, other than the 2000:1 contrast ratio. That's pretty low but for the $300 I paid for it, I'm not complaining.

If it was some random brand that I had never heard of, I wouldn't have touched it. I've looked at Westinghouse products before though, and they make some pretty decent mid-range LCD computer monitors. So I decided to take the risk.

When I got it home, I unboxed it immediately. I was thinking it was gonna look pretty cheap, but it was nice and glossy like my Samsung. I hooked it up to my computer using the VGA output, to test out the picture. To my surprise, it was actually quite crisp and nice. I played some games on it and didn't see any noticeable ghosting or anything.

The speakers are pretty lack-luster, however. It's decent for watching TV, but for movies, music, or games, the built in speakers just don't cut it. They distort a little at high volumes and don't have any bass. I never had any intention of using the built in speakers though, I hooked it up to my surround sound as soon as I put it in my living room. I was disappointed that it didn't have TOSLINK outputs though. My receiver doesn't support HDMI, and the only way I can get digital sound is through a TOSLINK cable. It would have been nice if they included an Optical output, but it's not that big of a deal.

For the money, the TV is really nice overall. It's got a great picture, just don't use the built in speakers. I would recommend it for anyone who has a $500 and under price range.
