Worst TV award winner!!! I bought this TV in December of 2009 for $1200 notice drastic price dropthere is a reason why. Picture was good sound quality was poor volume won't actually increase past 2030% even though the numbers increase the sound won't the remote has to be close and pointed directly at the right spot for it to work and there is lag in menu displays. Beyond these gems of engineering my TV quit working after less than 2yrs. There is absolutely no picture and no sound. To bring out a technician will cost $320 which may or may not fix the problem but there are no technicians in Tulsa. Please save yourself some money and don't buy a Vizio. They really don't work well they don't last long and your chances of finding a Vizio technician are slim to none.
Bad choice I should have went with my first choice. I brought a Vizio VT420M 42inch a year and a month ago because Vizio was known for reliability. In this instance it is not the case I had invested several months to get one of the best TVs on the market. It came down to Sony and Vizio I chose Vizio WRONG CHOICE. After hours spent on internet consumer sites and reading peer reviews this is what I get. Yesterday I lost my picture the screen went black but the sound still works. I called the manufacturer and because the TV only has a one year warranty I am S.O.L.. In order to get the TV repaired it will cost me around $350 not to mention that it will take up to 3 mos. to get the parts from Japan.. I did not purchase the extended warranty because of brand reliability but I should have went with my first choice to buy but I did not. This is my last experience with Vizio I will never own another Vizio product and I emailed my friends and family and forwarned them. Such a pretty name with crappy parts and poor workmanship. Sony I guess I will be purchasing you this weekend.
stay away from Vizio I bought 2 vizio tv's and both of them went out.The model # of my 42 vt420m .it went out almost 1 year to the date and Vizio told me it will take 1 to 2 weeks before it get fixed by them.SO STAY AWAY FROM VIZIO.
DO NOT BUY AND DEFINETLY DON'T BUY ELECTRONICS FROM TARGET My fiancee and I purchased this TV on Dec. 13th 2009 and the backlight for the screen failed on Dec. 13 2010! ONE YEAR TO THE DAY?!!! SEEMS VERY SUSPICIOUS AND ITS OBVIOUSLY A POORLY MADE PRODUCT. We purchased from a certain store with a bullseye logo Guest Relations was rude and patronizing. They will not help refuse to provide us with a copy of proof of purchase or receipt their customer relations team members can only repeat the phrase its not our policy to supply that information or take any responsibility for selling a poor quality item. So we are now stuck with an $800 piece of worthless electronics. I will not be shopping at their store for electronics or anything else.
Love this TV!!! Just what I was looking for to go with my game system and HD Cable. Great picture quality and easy use and setup. Sound is acceptable but not the best added a Logitech Stereo Sound System2 speaker with bass box and really perked it up.
Picture gone after 18 months I have had my Vizio VT420M 42 LCD TV for 18 months 1year warranty. I initially paid $779 for it. The TV worked very well for the first 18 months. The sound quality of the built inspeakers left a lot to be desired but I use my stereo anyway so it was no big deal for me.After 18 months the picture would not come on if I used the TV for a while turned it off and turned it back on again. If I waited a few hours the picture would be back. Then about a week later the picture died after about 15 minutes of watching it.I called Vizio and they walked me through a power reset and then gave me the phone number for a TV repair company. I know it is out of warranty but it seems like a company would be concerned if their TV lasted only 18 months!I have read more on the web. There have been a number of similar stories to mine. The backlight works motherboard is good sound works etc. It sounds like the LCD screen goes out which is more expensive to fix than the TV is worth. So if you are buying one I recommend an extended warranty.Me personally I will be buying a Sony tomorrow.
Just OK I bought this TV in Jan 2010. Mostly because I was very impressed with a smaller 24 Visio I had purchased a couple of years before. Everything was fine color and sound were very good for almost two years that is until the picture went out. I still had sound but just a black screen. I called Visio Tech Support and they said one of the boards had to be replaced. They also told me that since the warranty had expired in Jan 2011 and that I was responsible for the cost of repair. I was furious that a TV picture would go in less than two years. They apologized blah blah but I was really angry and I told them so. As luck would have it I bought the TV with my American Express card so the repair was covered by the extended warranty that comes with the card. Otherwise it would have cost me $245! I found out through researching the internet that this was not uncommon with Visio TV. This is the last time I buy a Visio.
Buyer Beware. TV stopped working before 1 yr. Unprofessional dealings. Bought this TV in November of 2010. Eight 8 days before the one year warranty ran out the picture went. There is NO picture on the tv but the sound works.Called Vizio and the c.s. rep was really hard to deal with. She was very nice but she kept putting me on hold each time I asked a question simple questions like where do I send the info you're requesting. They said I had to send a copy of my receipt. So I emailed a PDF of it. They were supposed to get back to me within 24 hrs. A week later they hadn't responded so I called Vizio and spoke to someone who said he would fill out a request for a tech to come to my house to fix the TV. He put me on hold for 12 minutes while he filled out a request. When I asked how long it would take to get a tech here he said 58 business days b/c Vizio has to send ITI Repairs the part. ITI Repairs is the company that does their TV repairs. I said Well if you know which part to send then you must know what's wrong with the tv right? He said yes. I said So what's wrong with it. He said I don't know. Huh?Vizio rep said ITI Repairs would call me to schedule an appointment. So 2 days later some kid calls me at 915 pm from his cell phone to ask for directions.
Over a year now and still loving it The picture quality is amazingsome ordinary shows and movies appear almost 3D.I connect audio to my receiver/surround sound system and the audio did fluctuate. When I bought a fiber optic cable and used it for audio the fluctuation stopped and I've been happy ever since.
