Very nice, This TV is wonderful! And I am always pleased with my experience through Amazon. No trouble with delivery. My only concern is that every one in a while, during a TV show, it seems the dialogue gets quieter at times for a few seconds. I don't understand that and am keeping an eye on it for now. If it is an issue, I only hope Mitsubishi can send someone out to look at it and that I am not expected to ship it somewhere because the box is no longer here.
Mitusbishi LT-40164 40, Love the TV. We came up with a lever system that allows an HDTV to fit in a traditional hideaway TV cabinet at an angle and then roll out strait. This Mitsubishi model fit perfectly. The color is great, and you get a surround sound feel from the speakers. We do feel that a bass unit would help out, but not necessary. It has an auto detect feature that takes a pretty good guess at what you are trying to connect. We use it a lot for gaming. The picture quality, sound, and turning ability added by our lever system make playing games a joy. The way we have it, the TV adjusts to you. You don't have to adjust to the TV.
Shipping was probably the only downside. The scheduled date for delivery of the TV, ended up being the scheduled date it would be at the local shipping warehouse. They called us to schedule a time for delivery and the nearest available date was two days away. I kind of expect that when Amazon says it will be delivered on a specific day, it is on my doorstep sometime that day. The bright side is that the shipping company did allow us to come by and pick it up directly from their shipping warehouse.
Died an early death, Purchased this TV at the beginning of October 2011. 3 months later, it's dead.
I was watching a show and the TV just shut off. The green power light starting flashing non-stop. I unplugged the power (as a sort of reboot), plugged it back in but still just a flashing green light. After leaving it unplugged all night, I have tried again but to no avail.
This is a pretty pricey TV. I like a lot of the features. However, having it die within 3 months of purchase is unacceptable.
Wonderful Purchase, I took delivery on this last night and got it set up right away, if anything about the TVs performance changes over time I will amend this review.
I attached it to my XBox and played the heavy metal game 'Brutal Legend', the game looked spectacular and the very loud soundtrack came out nice and clear through the factory sound system. The TV is loud. So loud I didn't even want to turn it up all the way while listening to Black Sabbath, and that's not common. The sound was good, really good in the mid and high range, some of the low end seemed lost so I am going to hook this up to a small sub and throw away my surround sound system!! I figured listening to music I heard on my childhood turntable thirty years ago and all the way through the digital revolution would be a good test drive of the sound.
The picture is wonderful, the game looked good and so did the movie I watched on it last night. It was a documentary and looked best on (the easy to change) "natural" setting, but was still very good on the "bright" and "game". There was a promo for some big, hollywood violence and special effects nightmare that looked absolutely, totally, awesome on the 'bright' setting. I don't really care for those kinds of movies but I am going to netflix this one on blu-ray just because of how sweet it looked on this TV.
The only drawback has been the shipping, they used FedEx. I live in a rural area and it was a pain to get. This is usually the case with FedEx. The online tracking said it would be delivered on Saturday, when it hadn't shown up by Monday I called and was told it would be there Monday sooner or later. Then I called on Tuesday and was told it would be there and that of course I didn't get it on Monday, they don't do home delivery on Mondays. Stupid me. There was no explanation why it hadn't been delivered on Saturday even though it was scanned onto a truck at 5 AM for delivery that day. For a FedEx delivery, this wasn't as bad as other times but we expect FedEx to be trouble and to get seamless, quality service through the USPS and UPS.
Watch Out Sony, You've Just Been Out-done!!!, There aren't enough words in ANY language that can sing the praises high enough, or great enough, about just how extraordinary THIS Mitsubishi HDTV truly is. I can say that you will never forget seeing one in operation if you ever get the chance, nor will you ever want to!! Mitsubishi has totally out done themselves with their Unisen HDTV line, no one even comes close in performance, crystal-fine picture yeilding, Hi-Def that puts High Definition in a new strata all on it's own! I've seen 3-D HDTV's and I wouldn't trade THIS beauty for anything, including 3-d. Then there is the little matter of the really creative built-in sound bar of 16 speakers built in right across the bottom of the set itself, and although small, they can really put out terrific audio, and especially for a 40" HDTV that is obviously built for people who want ALL that HDTV can give, but be able to do so in a somewhat "smaller version", for those of us that do live in apartments, smaller condos, etc. and don't want a 48-50-60++ inch TV hogging up out living space. All I know is that this size, configuration, and thoroughly knock-out picture and audio combination can't be beat by ANYONE ELSE, no matter what make, model, or brand it is. Mitsubishi Unisen HDTV's ARE the way to go, and go, and go.........
There is one small? caveat concerning this magnificent HDTV, and that is that it is fairly-to-extremely pricey, if you aren't willing to shell out $1,100.00, and for a 40" HDTV, at that, ( and more than that at many places ) then this isn't the HDTV Submersive Experience for you. It IS very expensive, but you are getting nothing but the upper registers of every kind of functioning that a HDTV is capable of giving, and then 500% more, and no holds barred. It is the quality, quality, and quality of this audacious, and amazing HDTV that will have your jaws drop in amazement upon seeing it, and hardly being able to believe what you are seeing, and hearing. Is it worth the Very High Price? I definitely think so, but then, that is why I am writing THIS review.
So if you are ready to jump into the REALLY BIG TIME, then please give this HDTV a try, and I suggest giving it some head-to-head trials against other models, especially in the "upper-echelons" of models, and makes, and see for yourself. I don't think you will ever forget it, which may just haunt you for quite a while, or at least until Mitsubishi decides to start lowering it's hefty price tag. However, I DO understand why they are not.
Mitsubishi LT-40 164 1080p 120 hz LED TV, Very satisfied of the image quality (very dependant of the cables, connections and source). Menus are easy to use. I like the fact that we can identify the inputs of the device used. The sound is really good if a subwoofer is used, but it is not up to par with a separate home theatre audio system. For me it is a good compromise. There is only one annoying thing with this tv; it takes 25 seconds to turn ON! I do not know it this is common to LED tv though.
Awesome TV, Looking for a TV for the bedroom that was bigger than our current 32 inch LCD. Was able to fit this 40 inch TV into the wall unit with no problem. Picture is rich and bright with the LED Edge lit feature. Great color and sound.
Mitsubishi LT-40164, Finished setting this set up last night and watched a bluray and an older dvd. Picture, color and sound every bit as good as we expected! Smooth and sharp. Easy to set up and hook up to the internet. Sound quality is so much better than most of the other set I have looked at, and I feel this generation of Mitsi tv's have a pictue quality second to none. Worth the extra $$ to me. Have heard buzzing about the dependability of newer Mitsubishi tv's, so we will see how that works out in the future. For now..........

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. With the integrated wireless Internet (802.
