Very competent budget HDTV Before purchasing this TV for a guest room I was worried about the negative reviews but after two weeks of use I am relieved that it is a pleasant surprise. Connecting to Verizon FIOS using an HDMI 1.4 cable I did not see any fuzzy picture as described by some reviewers here. The picture is sharp and the colors are vibrant. That said it is not as sharp detailed or saturated as my Samsung 1080P 240 hz HDTV that costs significantly more but that's to be expected. I do agree with some complaints that the volume is rather low but it is acceptably loud. All in all a very competent TV.
Sony TV Received tv on time and in good shape.plugged it in and no problems. Great picture and good really good sound.
Very nice TV Alll manufactureres are losing money selling LCD TVs but that's to our advantage. Although this uses older backlit technology CCFL Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp compared to the newer and better TFT Thin Film Transistor it is still an excellent TV.
Poor design not recommended This TV may be okay electronically but in terms of practical design and ease of setup it is about as bad as it can be. First of all you will need cables to make it work and NONE are included not even the most basic ones. So there is no chance you will be able to set it up out of the box. A trip to Radio Shack is inevitable and probably several trips before you find the right combination of cables. Second the instructions clearly do not conform to the actual arrangement on the back of the set. So you will have to guess where cables should be connected. How is it possible that engineers can design such a high tech device and not be able to draw a correct diagram of the back panel? Who knows but it makes me wonder what else they got wrong. Third you will need a special kind of screw driver to assemble the mount on which to place the TV on your table. Even after you find the right screw driver you will be unable to insert all of the screws because some of the holes are not drilled to line up straight. Fortunately the mount seems to hold together without all the screws. It seems poetically appropriate that this TV will permanently be missing some of its screws. It was not worth my trouble to send it back but I certainly would not recommend that anyone else buy this shoddy product.
Great this has been a great bye so far nice picture good black levels and ok sound for a flat screen.OUR Xbox games look really good and movies do as well.
happy customer This product is very well made and if it's like all of the other Sony products I have purchased over the years than I will be very happy. The packaging was a work of art.
Very nice for a nice price Installs and sets up easy looks great. Great picture and sound plenty of jacks and well priced. I have several Sony products including a DVD player that's 13 years old and still plays great so I am expecting this to last a very long time also.
Unhappy with Sony
My first lcd the right choice I purchased this tv right before Christmas of last year on eBay. To be clear i have a slightly different model. I have the Kdl40bx421 which is exactly the same except the 421 has three HDMIs instead of two. The tv is very good and runs crystal clear pictures both from cable HD channels and from streaming services like Amazon Video on Demand. So far i havent had any problems with this unit. It isnt the best tv on the market of course not but it is a good purchase from the Sony KDL line which is their lower end Bravia products.
